So with the current background checks are you saying there is also a registry? Sorry I'm calling bs on your argument.

There is no national registry but all purchases are kept by the dealer who has to turn then over to batf if compelled to do so.

Listen to what the liberals and democrats are saying. They want a registry. Only way universal background checks could work would be national registry.

Again it's been done exactly in these steps in other countries

No universal background checks. No infringement. No compromise.

Got it?

Lol humble pie, that question wasn't a two parter. It asked about a single piece of legislation.

4473s are stored indefinitely at the FFL, so yes there is.

Stored and databased is not the same thing. Are you saying with the current system there is an actual database?

Where is the outrage about this? How many guns have been confiscated because of this database?

Sounds like there are some holes in your argument.

So you used to do the grunt work for polling, congrats. The fact that you would quote a very standard methodological statement as some sort of proof of a biased sample makes me think you don't have any actual experience with the stats behind a scientific poll or the weighting done with it.

Aa for the agenda that you believe is behind every poll, you will have to explain their generally excellent accuracy. Blind luck I guess?

You are going to need to either provide some evidence for a biased sample, biased question language or wording, or biased after sample action. There isn't even a likely voter screen being applied here. You are talking out of your ass because you don't like what the polls are telling you.

Accuracy? Then explain how Bush won his first election?

I just provided a sample of biased wording with that poll just now. Using media buzzwords of "assault weapons" or "gunshow and online" purchases is the bias. With the current media frenzy of feeding people unfactual information about incorrect statements that anyone can buy a gun online and have it delivered to their house without a background check, or do so at a gunshow is WHY those questions are badly worded.

A "better" poll, and I use that term loosely, uses neutral questions and stays away from buzzwords.

Lol humble pie, that question wasn't a two parter. It asked about a single piece of legislation.

Gunshow transaction, and online transactions are TWO separate forms of sales. That is a two part question cobbled/conflated together into a 1 part question. THAT is a prime example of a bad question.

The poll should have broken that question up like this to be an actual neutral question.

"Do you favor background checks for anyone purchasing a gun online?"

"Are you aware that online gun purchase transactions already require a background check by law?"

"Do you favor background checks between any two private citizens conducting a transaction over a gun?"

"Would you favor a law that forces private citizens to pay for a background check on a firearm transaction or would just higher accountability through a bill of sale record keeping be sufficient to curb crime?"

There are so many ways to lead those questions and get completely different results. As for your accuracy, the gun bills didn't pass. Guess that another spit in the eye on how accurate these things are.

4473s are sent to the state for the background check as far as I'm aware.

Are you standing there watching some guy punch in JUST the buyer's name from a piece of paper, OK the purchase, call back the dealer, "He's good, you can sell it to him." and then burning/shredding the piece of paper he just got?

The 4473 is sent electronically. How do we even know that the state governments are deleting them at all?

WHAT PART OF "THIS FUCKING BILL SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED A NATIONAL DATABASE" DO YOU IDIOTS NOT UNDERSTAND?

If any bill should have been passed this would have been the one, it had so many holes in it to cover all of these gun advocate issues that any rational intelligent gun advocate would have been ok with it.

But of course you fucking idiots didn't read the bills and instead take your talking points from a paid lobby like the good sheep you are.

Nope, there is never any historical basis for the slippery slope of government intrusion.

A hostile lobby constantly besieges you for crimes you never committed or will commit, openly states they want to confiscate your property, and even succedes politically in the 90s to rob you of what you see as not just a toy but a fundamental right.

Exactly what mentality do you expect the recipient of this attention to develop? The gun control advocates can bitch about the NRA all they like. They and Clinton made it what it is now, and they made sure gun owners will never take politicians at their word on this.

The Senate rejected everything, not just background checks, but also the assault weapons and magazine bans.

Lol! I'm not the one who believes everything they are told.

You don't get it, I don't want any more gun restrictions of any kind, I don't care how sensible you think they are. In fact I think plenty of the existing gun laws need to be thrown out starting with the NFA and GCA of 1968.

As far as I am concerned gun control is going the wrong way until I can buy a brand new, fully automatic, AA-12 for a fair market price.

And the US Government has such a solid history of keeping its word?

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and calm down.

Then they need to take a deep breath and shout "fuck you Obama and the Democrats, your plans for federal gun control laws failed!! "

Now doesn't everyone feel better?

Thank God that we still live in a country where criminals, the mentally unstable, and anyone else who would fail a background check to buy a gun can still bypass it altogether. Freedom!
