You realize that you consistently sexualize Harris in disturbingly graphic detail, right? Seems kind of unhealthy.

The average republican today are just twisted souls. They are just nasty misogynistic creatures, among all the other terrible things they are.

Just shitty people down to the rotten core.

I really do wonder what the Dems are going to do with Manchin and Sinema after some sort of deal is made where BBB is able to survive in some stripped down form directly attributable to Manchin's and Sinema's efforts to sabotage it into some kind of legislation that looks as if McConnell gleefully took an axe and flamethrower to it.

If they are smart throw a party like the just saved the world. Pump the successes and win some more seats in 2022 to get the other stuff passed.

I actually don't think it is going to get passed at all. They have been working at this all year and Manchin and Sinema just keep finding things to object to. I think their goal is to keep objecting until the bill is so stripped down that Progressive Democrats won't vote for it. Then it is just dead.

In the meanwhile, Sinema continues to show what a living piece of shit looks like.

Sinema's giant flip-flop: She once campaigned on issues she now wants dropped from Biden’s plan | Salon.com
Yeah, Manchin is getting way too much of the blame. He seems to be pretty consistent with a conservative democrat and aligning with his state's desires on climate change. Plus no way we'd get anything better out of WV.

Sinema is just a snake being bought off and we could do much better out of AZ.

Repubs would never want him to switch parties or go off on his own because Manchin and Sinema at this moment in time are simply doing a better job of wrecking Biden's agenda from inside the party than even McConnell could do from outside of it.

I don't know how Manchin's popularity ratings are being affected by his play at the table, although it sure would be interesting to see what the Democrats in his home state actually think about his behavior where he is fighting to deny them those things they very much would like to be the beneficiaries thereof.

He is a DINO or GOP Plant.

It sure looks that way, although I'm thinking both Manchin and Sinema are having to deal with a conflict of interest due to their obeying the orders of their big moneyed donors whilst tossing crumbs to those working class folks who hit the streets and go stuff the ballot boxes with their votes. A balancing act on a razor's edge as it were.

Someone as senior as Manchin doesn't really need donors. Bernie got by without them for years. He's a greedy SOB that is all about self interest. He'd lose a republican primary so he is just in it for himself.

If he had a shred of humanity, he'd realize that as a dem in WV his days are numbered. He should do what is right.

Sinema is also only in it for herself as well. AZ is trending blue. She could easily adopt green energy and other DEM policies. She's as despicable as any GOP senator right now. I hope she gets primaried as a DEMbto send a message.

In summary, neither of these two are even giving crumbs to their constituents.

Fucking beat it, Manchin is dead weight and a distraction.

Pretty sad that Biden and the rest of the Dem caucus is having to put up with his shit because they absolutely need his vote to get things done and Manchin knows this so he's using that leverage to his maximum advantage. The one good thing that's come out of this is that Manchin has had to expose himself for how deeply invested he is in playing a major role in the corporate ownership of West Virginia.

It's a perfect example of how a Republican version of a plutocratic form of gov't can exist inside of a democracy.

I agree in the sense that Manchin has by now locked himself in within the power structure of that state where donations have pretty much taken the form of well established hidden pipelines much like McConnell has done in Kentucky and considering how poor both those states are, their wealth and influence is only magnified by that fact.

As far as doling out crumbs by those two, I agree because both of them are relying on the Democrats to give Manchin's and Sinema's constituencies anything in the way that would improve their standards of living. As I've previously mentioned, the Repubs, with both Manchin and Sinema acting as default agents on the party's behalf have been actively seeking to deny any and all assistance from the federal gov't to the middle class and the poor that already exists or is being proposed.

IIRC Trump won WV by 36 points. Although Manchin is a product of a different era when Dems appealed to working-class whites, it's a minor miracle he's still the senior Senator of WV. Obviously he rather enjoys being the most powerful legislator in Congress not named Pelosi, and I can't really blame him for milking his position. He's also smart enough to know that if he caucuses with the GOP, he's essentially a nobody. I find it rather hilarious that half the people in this thread are mad that Joe Manchin won't rubber-stamp the progressives platform... when he isn't even a moderate Democrat!

We're stuck with Manchin until we lose the Senate in the midterms, at which point we can toss Sinema overboard. As you said, dealing with Manchin is still vastly preferred vs. a Republican as his replacement. The Dems had a somewhat disastrous 2020 election (saved only by Biden's win and Stacey Abrams miraculous work), so Manchin gets to be king for a year. We failed to flip a couple Senate seats that looked attainable, and 2022 looks really bad right now.

I don't have the Op-Ed in front of me, but it argued passing BBB won't help our chances in the midterms. At best, it might stanch the bleeding. There is very little historical evidence (Big Deal, excepting) that major legislation forestalls midterm losses. I'd still assert the BIF bill is must-past legislation, mainly because Biden invested so much political capital in it. The #1 factor going into the midterms will be if we've defeated COVID.
