linky to newegg

What kind of warranty is there? I know newegg does a 30 day plan, but is there a manuf. warranty ?

otherwise I think ill pay the 20$ for a 2 year, for just in case.

also, any opinions on them? how great are they?! anything better for the price? anywhere cheaper maybe?

These things look great and some great reviews

good phones for the price. they don't sound as good as the higher-end sennheisers, but for ~$100, it might be tough to find a better pair.

Beyer DT 770's - I gave away my 280's after buying the 770's.

You can find a better price. I got mine for around $75 about 3 years ago. Use Pricegrabber or froogle to find cheaper prices.

They are great for the price. I just got done using mine! i use them to edit video footage and listen to music. Love'em.

Have had mine for a few years and love it. I don't think you can really do better for the price.

Not tough at all.

I am very impressed by those reviews...maybe I will take a chance on those instead. How is the warranty on them--if I ever needed to use it.

anyone know how these compare to the senny's or Beyer DT 770 ?

Well I've had mine for three years now and not only are they pretty durable (dropped them more times than I can count) but they're really comfortable. I tried my friends 280s once and it felt like a vise.

Personally I would never trust reviews from a sales site. They have a tendency to delete negative ones and promote the good ones.

Find a good headphone review site and start researching from there.

I paid $200 for the Beyers and $100 for the $280's. If you want super clean imaging, warm sweet highs, and brutal honesty, the 770's are MILES ahead of the 280's. I use mine for listening to music, but I also use them to hear subtle details in my recordings. I hear things on them that almost nobody else can hear (other audio professionals).

Like I said, I gave away the 280's - there was that much difference. Can't you try them both somewhere?

Be aware though, that I am listening on a super high end playback system, not an ipod, or portable cd player.....

280s are good, but the headband will crack and fall apart with moderate use, they're notorious for this. It happened to my pair. The Beyers and AudioTechnicas other posters linked are solid choices without this problem, and probably have better bass as well.

Do you have glasses? If so, they'd better have reasonably flat arms. These headphones exert a fair amount of pressure on the sides of your head, so you won't want to have thick glasses getting jammed into your temples.

They might also take a little bit of use to get good sound out of them. Fresh out of the package, mine sounded about as rich as my $3 headphones, and the bass was quite weak. After about a week, they finally "broke in" and started proving their worth.

I went to the AT-A900s (~$250) after I was done with my 280s, but my ears aren't good enough to tell enough of a difference between them to justify the price difference. If these A900s ever die, I'm just going to get another pair of 280s.

I've got a love my 280s, but the headband's cracked after about 3 years' daily use. I'll probably explore another brand when I'm ready to buy, but I've been VERY happy with my current pair. My concern with another brand/model is losing any level of comfort - I wear these for several hours a day at work.

I love mine. After almost 2 years, the padding on one ear is starting to fray, but otherwise they're indistinguishable from the day I bought 'em. Best headphones for anything approaching that kind of money. BUY THEM.
