Pretty decent deals if you're down with spending money for quality cans.
I called them up. These are not refurbished items.

Very good deal on the Senn 600s. I have a pair and use them all the time for my computer, they are far superior to any powered speakers you can buy. I haven't tried the other model out, I hear they are very similar.

You WILL need a headphone amplifier. Go to www.headwize.com, and look up the DIY projects. I'm using a CMOY amp, had someone build it for me for under $100. If you're handy, you can do it yourself for way under $50, I imagine.

Like Thump said, you will definitely need a headphone amp for these phones. I can't remember whether they have a 300 or 600 ohm impedence, but it's very high. Can't be driven by a headphone jack on a sound card or cd-rom drive, or even many all-in-one receivers. I shouldn't say it won't work, but it will be like buying a 3.0ghz p4 or xp3000 (don't want this to turn into a processor debate ) to run a word processor. You need enough current to get the sweet sound.

The 600s do work without an amplifier-just tried them plugged directly into my cd drive (I have a turtle beach sound card but I think this avoids it) but then they just sound pretty weak-no depth & kind of tinny. Definately plan on getting/building an amp. CMOY are good and cheap. You can go audiophile crazy and spend up to a grand on a headphone amp if you want. Personally, the 600s and a CMOY are superb to my ears.

I've had my 600's for a year and half (prior Hot Deals deal, where we had to buy from Europe for about $220). I, or my kids, use them probably 6-8 hours a day. Everyone who has heard them loves em.

i'll throw my opinion into this thread. i also run hd600's on a M-2496 for about 4 months, 6 months running it on a TBSC. i've never gotten around to getting an amp because its too expensive. i enjoy it very much and at no time has it been "underpowered". i've run it through cdplayers, mp3 players and everything. i bought it $230 from germany almost 2 years ago.

ditto that. i bought the 580s with the dsp pro amp. haven't used the amp much, since it doesn't sound that good, though it is a very low end amp - what do you expect for something that's bundled. still sounds pretty good to me.

This is funny:

The RCA extension adapters are $0.95 a piece. They charge an extra $1 shipping **PER PIECE**.

So because I need filler items to bump my total of $197.95 up to $200, I need to buy 3 adapters ($2.85) + $3 shipping = $5.85.

Not to mention they charge me $17.95 to ship a frigging pair of headphones from LA to SF. We're talking standard 7-10 days shipping here - the kind of shipping that's FREE at Amazon by the way. If I do it myself via Fedex Ground, it'll cost me 5 bucks. Buy.com is like ebay sellers - shipping is part of their profit.

Man, now I understand why I haven't shopped at buy.com for ages. They used to be really cool with shipping and coupons. Now they're one of the last places I would look to buy something from.

Both cans are excellent units and you won't go wrong with either pair. As was noted, be aware of the impediance levels and the trouble you may run into.

these senns are both great! and i second the ksc 55's for behind the neck for running, they're the best sounding around the back of the head headphones, save maybe the koss sportapros, but they all ahve teh same drivers anyways or very similiar!

This place has HD580 for $129. I spend quite some time listening to different 'phones and eventually got studio monitors HD265. Open air 'phones are OK, but they tend to let too much outside noise in. You can find HD265 @buy_dot_com

anyways, anyone who ordered the sennheiser 600 from buy.com got their shipping tracking number yet? mine still says being processed. i wonder if they really have it in stock.
