I got mine in the mail also, they look pretty much the same as my friend's retail package MX400, for 5 bucks I guess I can't ask for too much.
The sound quality are similar to the standard ipod earbuds, nothing to brag about but decent enough.
I am not certain if they are real though.

They have the sennheiser logo and everything. The design and cord both suggest that they're real (i've seen the real mx400s).

IIRC, my old Sennheiser MX-something, purchased at Virgin Megastore for $12 circa the year 2000, had different-length ear cords.
