Sennheisers do rule (I own a pair of hd600's) but I wonder how they compare (to of all things) these.
i got the portapros for over a month now
sounds great, very good bass, doesnt hurt the ears after wearing it for a long period of time (the side cusions help relieve pressure on the ears), and lifetime warrenty
Are you sure it's the connection for the Sennheiser headphones and not the device that you are plugging the headphones into? Have you tried to connect them to another device to see if the issue goes away? In regards to receipts, if you ordered the Sennheiser 497 phones from an on-line vendor, you should be able to get an on-line copy of your receipt to provide to Sennheiser. If you can't get one, maybe, they'll accept a copy of your credit card statement showing the purchase amount and place of purchase along with the date to back up the warranty.I own the HD497.. the cables connection sucks! It keeps losing connection.. and I have to move it around a bit until the connection comes back...
Actually, I've spent more time in the audio and home theater forums on other sites. This is the first I've heard of Sennheiser plug issues. But, I don't doubt that they exist. Sennheiser is a great name and recently, they've flooded the market with <$50 headphones. The $150 - $400 Sennheiser headphones that were known to be of excellent quality are still out there - but, more people will jump on a pair of $50 headphones and rely on the Sennheiser name - and expect such quality. If you read forums more carefully loose connections is a common problem for certain sennheiser models.

I had a pair of koss headphones that i really liked a couple years ago. Looked just like those ones someone linked too, problem was they were not durable at all. After a month of having them they were broken in 2 places.
