Unless the person really can't sleep in the bed with someone for a serious good reason then no. That would be really really strange.

On second thought....I guess there is no problem with it really. It just seems a bit strange cause its the assumed way things happen. It doesn't really make sense sleeping together in the first place does it? I mean you love eachother, yeah you want to have sex and be close and such but why do you need to share a space when you trying to become unconscious as quick as possible?

I still find it strange...but i guess it would make perfect sense.

Personal space is good for a relationship. If you're so attached at the hip that being separated while you sleep is a threat to the marriage then I would begin to question things. I'm not suggesting that you sleep apart, but for many couples its a valid lifestyle (ie some people just hate cuddling or sharing a bed, have different sleep patterns or sleep idiosyncrasies that cannot be worked out.)

(Though I absolutely advocate separate, full bathrooms and not shaving while your girl drops a tsunami sh**storm right beside you on the can like many couples do.)

Whatever works best for your relationship and keep the passion going =

Edit: for me personally I always dispute the room temperature and bedding. I hate the feeling of warmth while I sleep and much prefer to sleep in a cool room, bordering on cold. No woman I've lived with has ever tolerated that, quite to the contrary, they like the opposite so much so I want to puke.

I can sleep through anything, so the wife getting up 10 times a night I can deal wife. As for the wife, I guess my snoring bothers her, as does my watching tv, if she wants to sleep elsewhere, so be it. I'm going to stay, she can go lie on the couch.

Personal choice. If there are enough factors to justify separate bedrooms, why not?

I wouldn't mind it (she would). I like the room cold and she likes it hot. She goes to be @ 9 or 10 and I have to be very quiet for the next few hours (3 or so) so I don't wake her up). And watching TV together, well, we really don't agree on anything to watch!

Occassionally my wife kicks me to the couch if I'm snoring too loud, but that usually only happens when I've been drinking and I don't do that much any more.

My wife and I would never consider separate bedrooms though (together 14 years).

"So what's new at home?"

"Oh, um... Your mother re-did her bedroom."

"Oh really? Fun!"

"Yes. I'm going to keep mine the way it is."

"Oh...well... I guess you don't want to be one of those couples that does EVERYTHING together..."

My wife sleeps in a different bedroom....she's a VERY light sleeper, and I snore...loudly.

Before we had kids, we'd go to sleep in the same bed, and when she woke up to go to the bathroom, she'd usually just go in the other bedroom, because she found she couldn't fall asleep with me snoring.

If I came in and went to sleep after she was already asleep, she was okay.

Now, since we've had kids, my daughter sleeps with me in the master bedroom, and my son sleeps with the wife in "his" room.

That's getting ready to cease pretty soon, though.

Don't be an idiot. She used to sleep with both of us, and we both snored and ran the wife into the guest bedroom. Then we had our boy, and the wife just kept him back there with her. We've started trying to get my daughter to sleep in her room, and occasionally she does, but we haven't been adamant enough about it yet.

Sleep is different than cuddling or sex.

So yeah many people sleep in their own beds after they scratched the itch.

I have never learned how to sleep with a woman without the circulation in my arm getting cut off.

You're right. That's makes much more sense.

You don't mention their ages, but in any case it's reassurring to see that you did imply that the situation is NOT NORMAL by qualifying your statement with "That's getting ready to cease pretty soon, though".

My 'rents sleep in separate bedrooms. They still sleep together multiple times a week, and they still have cuddle time, etc.. but the bottom line is that my father is a pretty impressive snorer, and my mother sleeps very lightly. She also gets up at 5am while he gets up at 9am. It's just easier for them to have separate rooms to SLEEP. It's just SLEEP. They have a great relationship from what I can tell, it's just a matter of ease. I guess I always assumed that if two people have a marriage that works I don't see why the location of the few hours the spend SLEEPING would have that much importance?

Things cooling off?

LOL

Actually, we sleep separately, just so our different shifts don't get in the way of each others sleep. We DO sleep together when were both off for a couple days, otherwise, it's sex by appointment only!

Alas, neither, if you're comment was directed to me. As I stated before, he does not mention how old his children are. If he wants to sleep in the same room with this teenage daughter, and his wife with his 8-yr old son, more power to the hill billy family. If he's talking about a f****** newborn, then the situation is completely understandable. Most parents, however, would not fvck around with their child's development by continuing the sleeping arrangement he described.

That sounds like recent to me...not 8 years old. So I'm guessing close to newborn.

Jeeze, some of you people are friggin perverts quick to assume (then again, this is the internet-pervert paradise). As far as sleeping arrangements go, most people I end up having sex with hate sleeping with me. I'm fairly large (6' 240 lbs.), I sleep very lightly and hate noises, and I move around a lot in bed. Top it off with the fact that I'm an insomniac who hates being woken up and you've got a quick way for things to get nasty.

Okay, 7yrs old, if that floats your boat. Or how about 5yrs old, for either the daughter or the son...take your pick. One guess is as good as another. As I'll state yet again, he never mentioned the ages.

I would find it odd

I love sleeping with her, and she seems to agree it would be very odd

I do sleep in the spare room if i'm really drunk tho, as a courtesy to her, since i kick randomly when i'm really drunk, and she has very sharp elbows

That said, i haven't done either for about six months, so it's hardly a regular thing, and it depends if she's drunk too...
