I was at the hospital. My brother sprained his ankle the week before (almost completly tore all the tendons and ligaments in his ankle), and I was helping him out by driving him around and stuff. We were down in radiology when our mom called the hospital and had 'em track us down so she could tell us what was going on. After we were finished, just went home and watched everything that was happening for a few hours.

I was at my apartment getting ready to go to school... I had ordered a Dell workstation back in August 2001, and it was supposed to arrive that day... Doorbell rang, UPS guy was there with nothing in his hands... He helped him self into my apartment, and was shouting "Where's your TV?? USA is getting attacked... Turn on your TV!!!" we turned it on, turned to CNN and watched the 2nd plane hit... We sat there watching the TV for about an hour... then he went out to the truck and got my computer system...

Was kinda cool being able to sit there with a total stranger and not care at all... we were just so shocked that it was real...

I think he's implying that the first crash wasn't recorded.

Um. It was 6am on the west coast and I had weight training class on that day, meaning I had to b ein school by 7. I'm slow at getting up, so I usually am awake by 6:15 or so, but my parents woke me up a little earlier because they thought it was interesting the WTC was on fire.

They watch stuff in mute in the morning hoping not to wake me and my grandparents who sleep upstairs, and so I think my mom just turned on the caption to find out it was an attack.

I was sitting my my mom's room barely awake after being dragged up and I stared at the tv screen to see that it was like 1993 all over again. At least that was what I first thought.

Then the anchor was like "So we have 1 world trade center on fire... oh wait noo 2 world trade centers on fire" And that's when the 2nd plane hit. I saw it there on my screen... holy sh!t I thought.

I Got dressed ASAP and ran downstairs for breakfast where I watched the rest on our family room TV and I didnt want to leave for school. Initial reports of the Pentagon came in and I just stood there in horror.

Got to school, and our 1.5 hr weight training period turned into a "sit-around-the-radio" and listen deal (esp for the last 30 min).

Next class rolled around and it was clearly 9am already on the west coast. The towers collapsed but I didn't get it. People were saying how they fell into the ocean, but I didn't believe it. I didn't understand how they could just collapse. I could understand how some parts fall off (like the top), but why the bottom? It was only after I saw the footage on msnbc.com that I believed it. Oh man... Sad day =(

I was still living at home. My mom woke me up and said, "something terrible has happened..."
She went on about details while I was half asleep. I finally asked, "What station?"
At this point, I didn't know what was going on despite her explaining it to me. I thought earthquake, world war, etc.
She replied, "Any station."

"Oh my God." Has to be bad. And it was
I turned it on just before the first tower collapsed.

I live in Boston, and go to school near Fenway.

On that day, I ate breakfast with my ex in her college's cafe, then I walked back to school and saw a lot of people surrounding the big screen television.

At first, I'm like all the other people and thought that it was a movie, and then I realized that it is real.
I stayed there and watch CNN until class starts. It ended up that all my classes got canceled. Professor just walk-in and tell everyone that he don't have the mood to teach.

While I was driving home, I turned to a local music radio channel 94.5fm, and instead of playing music, they talk about the WTC news.

I was at work, at Sun in Hillsboro Oregon. I had access to more media than the other workers so I was running around giving updates. At the same time I was coordinating with a friends mom to drive to Montana and bring him back (he'd flown out for his grandpas funeral). As soon as it came out that it was probably Islamic terrorists (don't remember exactly when that was) I contacted all the local muslim businesses, mosques, and organizations to offer free security if they wanted it.

Dropping my older sister off at her zero period class. That was her junior year of high school, seems weird for me to think that. So long ago. I remember we dropped her off probably minutes before/after the first plane hit. My dad always listened to NPR in the morning and we were talking as we were stopping somewhere to grab food since I was only in middle school and didn't need to get to school for a while yet. The guy was talking about it but we weren't paying attention and didn't really understand what was going on because so little information was available at that point. It didn't hit me til I was walking to wait for the locker rooms to open and I walked by my science teacher's room and saw it on tv. Then someone came up to me and was like "Did you hear about what happened to the trade center?"

It all just seems bizarre to reflect back on. I always looked into her room to see what was going on cuz she always had the news on in the morning. That morning was different though cuz she was actually watching it, and that's what cued me that something was really not right.

The Smoky Mountains, about a mile from Clingman's Dome, doing some immersed research. Didn't hear about it until the 14th when I came back to civilization.

A was in my 6th grade World History class. The principal spoke over the intercom and told all the teachers to go to that channel. A few girls in the class started crying when they saw, but I didn't really grasp the severity of the situation then.

NJ. My husband (we're now divorced) was supposed to be installing a computer floor in an office on the 14th floor of WTC 2, his techs were meeting at our house so they could all go in together, and one of his techs was late. I flipped on the TV right before the first plane hit and while husband was ranting, the first special bulletin came on.

Watched the second plane hit, on TV. Tech finally got there, apologetic and ready to go, hadn't heard the news, was late because of food poisoning.

Because I had a firm belief during my undergrad years that classes on friday was an abomination, as were any classes before noon. So I never took any classes that met in the morning. I liked to sleep.

I had taken the day off to play EQ (so sue me) and people were talking about it in game... I flipped on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit. I was numb and had nightmares about it for months. I live about an hour north of NYC and my internet service was out for almost a week. I'll never forget seeing arabs cheeering in the streets about the death of 3,000 innocent people. Not terrorists, but families; women, children... Cheering. I'll stop here, speaking my mind on arabs and islam would get me banned.

We were on vacation on Molokai. I got up early as is my habit and flipped on the TV to catch up on the news and kill time until my wife got up. Both towers had been hit already.

It was like watching a made for TV movie or something as it seemed unreal.

We had an inter-island flight on Friday and it looked as though we weren't going to make that because of the heightened security at the airport. The airports were shut right down. But by Friday planes were back in he air.

I was at work early that morning at 6 am (Colorado) with several other people on a conference call with our programmers in India. We broke up about 7 and were talking outside a cube when another co-worker came in crying about a plane. We tried to get more of the story out of here when some other people called to use to our group to come to the fishbowl. A secondary control room with TVs. We made our way there just in time to see the second plane hit the second building.

It was chaos for us at the time. At about 11:00 there was an announcement over the intercom telling us to go home for the day. Some had to stay to get records the government wanted right way. 7 weeks later half of the people at my company were let go.
