I was in school. A few teachers were crying but no one was told what was going unless they had realatives or family in NYC. It was totally nuts... when the bus dropped us off you could see tons of parents standing there because they needed to see their kids get off the bus safely... it was really weird.

I was in bed sleeping. My dad came downstairs to wake me up after the first tower hit. I turned the TV on and about 20 seconds later the second plane hit.

I had to go to class later that day and my prof broke down crying because he was overwhelmed.

I was on vacation planning my first visit to see the twin towers. Unfortunately I didn't get there in time.

I'll never forget seeing arabs cheeering in the streets about the death of 3,000 innocent people. Not terrorists, but families; women, children... Cheering. I'll stop here, speaking my mind on arabs and islam would get me banned.
It appears Fox News has neglected to inform you of the thousands of ordinary Iranians who demonstrated against terrorism in Tehran on 9/18/2001. If only things were as black and white as they appear at first glance.

I was at work taking a class on how to be a better car salesman... they kept the class going, about as low class as you can be... guess that is what you get for working for a car dealership... needless to say I don't sell cars anymore.

I had spent the night of Sept 10th flying back from the CEDIA conference. When we got to Seattle it was late. Bossman wanted to chill at the Marriott for the night. The other guys and I talked him into pushing on so we flew home to Anchrorage that night. We got in at about 1am.

6am, I get a call from one of the guys I was flying with. "Remember the World Trade Center?"

I asked, "Remember?"

"They're gone, both of them. Turn on the TV."

Most of the time it's nice to work in a TV store. That day wasn't so nice.

I was at the architecture firm I worked for at the time. Minutes after the first plane hit, a co-worker turned on an office TV saying that a plane had hit the WTC. The entire office was at the set from that point on. A senior architect commented "I wonder how long the [structural steel's] fireproofing is going to hold out?..." and about 15 minutes later the first tower fell.

In school 7th grade at the time, teachers weren't really saying much, but when i got picked up from school by a neighbor's dad he let us know what had happened and how it was planned on that day so it would be like 911. I was glued to the TV for months after that it seems watching news 24/7. It was a very sad time, still get sad thinking about it now reading all these posts.

I was getting ready for class as usual (I had an early class... English 3??, The Evolution of the American Novel). just happened to be watching CNN as usual when the news broke.

I totally freaked out because I had a dream a few nights earlier about the world trade center blowing up with my dad and sister inside :Q I remember being convinced at first that there was just a lot of smoke and that the towers would be there when the smoke cleared.

still freaks me out a little... my summer job for 2 summers was in the WTC.

I was in Freshman year Chemistry class in college. I got out and walked to the campus student center to get a bit to eat, and everybody was gathered around a TV in the student center. I just couldn't believe it as I overheard someone telling his friend what had happened.

I woke up at about 5:30ish or 6, and turned on the news, apparently the towers were just hit, went to school, teacher turned on the news, we watched in silence.

I was on my way to an English class at the college.... On my way out the door to go to class I saw a breif minute of the news and it didnt really click that what I was seeing was the WTC.

Anyway I got to class (I hated early morning classes!) and we were only in class for about 10 minutes before someone came running into class to tell everyone what was going on... Everyone pretty much left class at that point....

The really bad thing is that I was ironically wearing my Megadeth Peace sells but whose buying shirt that day (how was I supposed to know!)..... Any of those who know the old style PSBWB CD cover art know why this is embarrasing.

In bed. My alarm clock was a radio and set to NPR, and I awoke to the reporter saying something about a plane having hit the WTC. Ran downstairs and flipped on the TV in time to see the second plane hit.

EDIT: Was in college--junior year.

I was at work in Midtown, watching on CNN and listening to the news on the radio. Got calls from my Mom and my aunt who both work near City Hall, trying to see if I had heard from my cousin, who worked in the WTC. Turns out he had gotten out fairly early and had headed uptown but couldn't get cell service and the lines at pay phones were too long to wait on. He finally called two hours or so later after he had gotten back to his apartment. I went home after that. Mass transit had pretty much stopped at that point and I ended up walking home to the Upper West Side. Other than during the big northeast blackout, I don't think I've ever seen that many New Yorkers on the streets all at once. Terrible, terrible day, yet seeing all the people helping each other kind of restores your faith in humanity just a little bit.

It was pretty surreal seeing thousands of people on the streets. walking up broadway from the WTC was just insane. there were no cars on the street...just people...and people gathered around cars listening to the radio to keep updated on the events.
