I was at work, just got there. I worked in an electronics store, and they had all 20 or 30 TV's turned to CNN and we were watching the event live. The first plane had already hit, and we watched the second one come in.

I will never forget those images, and even typing this out warps me right back to that moment.

I was in a quarterly breakfast meeting with about 500 of my 12-15000 New England co-workers. The regional manager had just told us that the major cuts in our health insurance (which we found out ourselves) had not been announced because of a "lost email" (omfg multimillion dollar insurance program slips under the radar? what a weak lie). I asked him since we're selling more product, at higher prices, to more customers, why can't we get a raise? He didn't like that. Sadly, it took 3000 civilian deaths to save my job that day.

I had been working till the early AM from home, 04:00 and called in saying I needed some sleep.

I was awaken by my wife who has lots of family in jersey saying a plane had hit the towers. I thought "man, how could a cesna or other small aircraft hit them." Thought nothing of it as I was groggy and drained.

a little bit later came the call - "John, get up and turn on your TV. Do it now. Do it RIGHT NOW. I love you." Groggily I slumbered to now discover what was going on.

I turned on the TV, I was home so I could watch every moment seeing one tower to seeing the other one hit, to everyting else. Especially the pentagon.

When they fell, I called her and just simply said - "I hope your family is OK. We're going to war. This is how world wars are started, that event that sparks it all."

And it was such a pretty day. I have a hard time witholding my rage as i write this.

was just getting out of bed (LI, NY) when my dad turned on the tv... even after I got into work (5 miles away) I went into the NOC where they were playing the news on the big monitors... towers had already collapsed and it was showing people covered in ashes running away. We were just in shock that it was all happening.

Know someone who got out alive... my manager's husband also got out alive. An old HS friend's brother perished though. I can't imagine what goes through their minds every single year around this time.

Well, I was in school and my teacher turned on the TV and showed everyone what happened that morning. I asked my teacher, "How many people died?" and "Did the people in the plane die?" Note that I was in 6th grade at the time and I was stupid too !

Later that day, I got called up to my counselor because of what I wrote on a worksheet about my likes and stuff. The question on the worksheet was, "If you won the lottery and won a million dollars, what would you do with it?" I wrote "I would hire a serial killer to eliminate all my enemies." (Remember, I was pretty stupid back then and I watched a lot of violent movies and played a lot of violent games!) My counselor questioned my mentality at that point. She asked "What kind of enemies? Pokemon?" and I replied "No" Then I got sent to the principal's office and they called my dad. They told my dad that I had ask my teacher about the deaths of 9/11. I was sort of sad but mainly mad because of those stupid dumb people. I know they are doing their job but I thought it was really stupid back then. I mean, my third grade teacher didn't give a damn about all the gory and violent stories that I wrote for assignments! So then I got sent back home and my counselor told my dad to take me to a mental clinic or something like that to verify the integrity of my cranium. He didn't take me because I didn't want to. And that day traumatized me...

After that day, I started parted my old ways and did things differently from there on out.

It was my first or second day of 6th grade. I heard about it in "homeroom", then saw it on tv in study hall. Then watched it when I got home.

At school. My teacher got a cell phone call from her son who was in new york. She didn't make it sound like a big deal at the time.

On our way to the Oregon coast for a week long vacation. It happened before we left so we watched the tv for a few hours then finally figured there was nothing we could do so we left. At every gas station people asked us "Did you hear what happened?"

I was lucky. I took the day off and saw it all on television with the mrs. It was so surreal. At first we thought it was an accident but when the other plane hit, our worst fears were realized that it was a terrorist attack. We stayed glued to the news reports since both of my sisters worked in the city. We were wondering if they were alright since it was chaos after that point in the city. Wife was also wondering if she was going to get called in since she works as a nurse at NY Presby.

Was at school, but didn't hear about it until 10:05-ish when the ptincipal announced it over the PA and counselling. Still went on, but got to watch some coverage on TV during English class in the afternoon. Then got home, watched a bit of coverage on TV, read a lot of forum posts. I was pretty shocked and in disbelief for the next few days, and it bugged me for an entire year.

At School about 15 miles from the Pentagon. My dad works a block from the White House, so I was worried....thank goodness the Flight 93 went down in PA!

The most interesting twist was my class was just getting ready to analyze Orwell's 1984...kinda makes me wonder how close we have gotten to the bleak image Orwell painted.

For some reason I clearly remember people feeling they needed to horde as much gasoline as they could as if they were never going to see another drop of gas in their lifetime. I was in the middle of the corn fields of Illinois. One of the regional chain of gas stations exploited the panic and raised gas prices to $7-$8 per gallon, and still people could not throw their money any faster at these stations.

I don't know, I just seem to remember the bad sides of how people reacted to the events.

At School, friend told me in passing a plane had hit WTC. Thought it was some cessna pilot who got lost. After the next class, walked by the library to see everyone looking up at the tv. Thought they were watching a movie, saw tower two go down live.

I had just gotten upstairs for breakfast before school (8th grade), and my mom said something about a plane accidentally hitting the world trade center. A couple minutes later, while standing about a foot away from the TV, I turned to look at my mom washing stuff for some reason or other, just as I turned back, I heared the announcer start yelling and saw the flash as the second tower was struck. My mom didn't believe me until she looked.

What pisses me off is how the teachers in school tried to make the day seem normal. Like ****** hell, if I had any more sense, I would have just walked out, and found a tv somewhere.
