yah, it diddnt do too well in the theaters, all those "Browncoats" out there who begged for a movie apparently diddnt show up when it was released so they are releasing it for christmas hopping it will be a DVD sucess. Its a great movie and I preordered mine two days ago.

Actually, many Browncoats were pissed about the way the movie stabbed them in the back. Suffice it to say if you liked the original episodes, there is a good chance you will not like the movie. The movie is for Weadon fans, not Firefly fans.

I saw the movie and am tempted to rent the firefly dvd. How does the show relate to the movie? Same thing but more drawn out? Same world but different stories?

Movie wasnt that great imo. Ive had the dvd for a month or so now. After watching it I learned it was based off a tv series I guess? Well, the movie was entertaining but nothing Id say that was just incredible or anything. So it makes sense why it didnt do that well in theaters. I wouldnt have gone to see it either.....

If you didn't see the TV series, then it would be hard to connect with the characters in the movie. The series was better then the movie by long shot. BTW Scifi has been rerunning the series lately. Get you TIVO's out. One more thing, you really need to see the series in the proper order otherwise it'll be confusing to some extent.

My question is, who do you think could win the fight between River (from the movie) and Trinity from the Matrix series.

pretty much. its not that great. it just has a rather rabid cult fan base is all. they couldn't muster the audience to save the mediocre tv show, let alone open the movie to respectable numbers. it actually dropped each day of release

and don't let the fans tell u it was canceled because it run out of order. i watched the dvds in order and the pilot was weak as hell. as for being out of order, order is about important as it is in the simpsons in this series, its no 24. u'd have to be a moron not be able to follow along since the characters are all paper thin cliches.

... funny I can't stand Weadon's other stuff. Firefly and Serenity worked for me. One of the few movies I'm going to try and get a "collectors" box for.

The movie's good but I wouldn't call it exceptional. It definitely doesn't stand on its own though they tried their best to make it do so. Definitely watch the series before you see Serenity. There's a lot of character expose and interaction that takes place in the episodes and without that foundation the movie won't make sense in a lot of ways.
