Remember all those old Promise ATA66 or 100 controllers people used to use on their boards that only supported 33 or 66? WEll ... how about boards that support 33/66/100 or even 133 -but don't support Serial-ATA? Can you get a "Serial-ATA card" of some sort, that would enable any kind of board (For example, a K7S5A) to use Serial-ATA? And would it be worthwhile if that does exist?
and where would one find this, and how much would it cost? my store doesn't have em and i can't find any places that do have. also... is the performance of a Serial-ATA drive noticably higher than an IDE drive? I have two 80GB (one 2MB one 8MB). They're both blazing compared to my old 20GB Quantum LM (7200/2MB) - but they're still not all that fast, even with 1024MB DDR. Would a Serial-ATA drive be kinda inbetween ide-scsi performance or what?
