I'm having problems getting any serial mouse to work with DOS (Win98 and 6.22) or Win98. The closest I've come to success has been to install them with a Genius mouse driver, but it always installs them in 3 button mode even when their switch is set to Microsoft/2 button mode. The serial ports test fine with a loopback plug, and the mice pass a diagnostic that talks directly to the serial port.
Some of these mice are serial only, others automatic PS/2 port-serial port (never any problems with mouse port), some are 2 button, others 3 buttons and switchable between Genius and Microsoft modes.
I have tried five different computers with different chipsets.
I don't really need to use these mice with the serial port, but it's bugging me that they don't work, especially with DOS.
