I used to drink every day, but not responsibly. It took a serious illness to get my head straight. I don't drink much at all now because I know myself better than that, and bad things tend to happen when I do.

If I drink nowdays I buy very small amounts, like 2 beers and a few airline shots.

Quitting smoking (again) soon too. Yay life!

I have some weird idiosyncratic behavior where once every few years I'll end up boozing every night for a month or two...Other than that I don't drink. I don't think there is much benefit in one drink a day. You won't feel much, and you'll be more than likely gaining some poundage. I would say you're normal though, everyone has vices. Just be self-aware of your behavior, I think you're subconsciously concerned of it becoming a problem so just be mindful of it.

As a rule I have a beer on my birthday, with a steak.

And MAYBE a shot of something on New Years eve. This new year I was with gramma so I had nothing.

Personally, when I used to drink...and I drank every day for several years...I never bothered with such trivialities as measuring my drinks...I removed the top from the fifth of Crown Royal, threw the top in the garbage, and started drinking. I stopped drinking when the bottle was empty. (after all, if you open a bottle of whiskey, you HAVE to drink it all...it will go bad overnight if you put the top back on it)


Nowadays, I don't drink more than a very occasional beer.

The only time I drink is with other people, and there is only one person I drink with where I have more than the equivalent of 1-2 beers over the course of a four+ hours. So, I usually have 1-2 beers every 4 months.
Several years ago, I used to drink around a 6 pack by myself maybe once a month or so. In college and before, anytime I drank I would get shitfaced, but still was only like once a month, or less frequently.

Some people do drink the equivalent of beer or two a day and are perfectly fine, though. If that really is all you drink. I find that most people making that claim drink more than that.

And yea, Boomer's was serious, but try about a liter of vodka. Daily. For over 10 years. Not for me. IMO if you are drinking more than two beers a day, you have a problem.

I also work nights. It's kind of fun buying booze at 7am and getting tipsy during the day. I usually keep my night schedule for short weekends.

Fairly normal, but I believe low-grade alcoholism is normal for many. It's undeniably bad for your health, though a great many things are of course.

I stopped drinking years ago, not due to alcoholism, but just because I think on the whole it's an unhealthy pastime, physically and psychologically.
