Serious problem with home network.

Here's the situation. I am using DSL from SBC. SBC sent me a wireless AP. We are running 4 computers, all with WinXP SP2 and, all the computers are connected wireless. I am not allowed to connect to my dad's shared folder. I can get on the internet, but, as I said I can't connect to my dad's shared folder. It is telling me to type in a password for the guest account. "\\puter name\guest". We didn't have this problem before when he was running Win98. He just switched to WinXP. He can see my shared folder, but as I said before I can't connect to his. My dad has his Guest account disabled. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Or, if anyone know's of a troubleshooting guide please let me know.

He has a password setup, and permissions. the user name will be his username or computer name, and password.

If your dad is running windows xp pro then you have to enable simple file sharing for windows xp home to access the shares without authentication.

My Computer - tools menu - folder options - view tab - last option "enable simple file sharing", tick it. Or use the same username and password as you dad uses as a work around.

Actualy the problem is simple file sharing is enabled by default on XP Pro and if you have a password protected PC you need to disable simple file sharing and set the correct permishions or make sure simple file sharing is enabled on all the PC's in your network and they have compabile user names and pwds.

Simple file sharing is not enabled by default on windows xp pro, and there is no setting for simple file sharing on windows xp home.

XP Home only has simple file sharing. You need to go set the guest account P/W to something you know. Guest account can access shares, even though it is disabled. The "disabled" portion is for console login onto the box.
