I don't think he's saying he WANTS to. He is curious how anyone could actually get started smoking because it is so hard on you at first.
You're right, and I'm not trying to make this a judgmental topic. I'm just wondering if others felt the same kind of burning sensation. For me, the sensation was so strong I gagged pretty hard for a few minutes. I ended up not trying again after that experience.
That was pretty much my experience; I smoked a whole cig once in HS, felt kinda weird and then puked. I decided that it wasn't really for me.

Same thing here, I'd have to smoke a cig pretty slow in order to not get sick and throw up. Good thing I guess !

Smoking helps me get through the day. Anytime that I want to blow up or tear someone to shreds, I just smoke a cigarette and relax.

It wasn't hard to get started, but maybe it depends on the brand of cigarette in your situation. I have smoked some crappy cigarettes that taste like crap, your lungs feel like crap, and they are made of crap.

I stick to Camel though, Camel Filters, Camel Wides, Camel Non Filters if I am feeling suicidal.

i first started because it calmed me down on my breaks at work...
i smoked ultra-lights at first because i kept getting smoke in my eyes and reds were way too harsh, eventually i got used to it

See, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. WAY TO GO!

lol

It's hilarious, but oh so true.

Once you are hooked, you will find that nicotine will control your life. You will find yourself not wanting to hang out with people that don't smoke, because it makes it harder for you to get the drug you need when you can't smoke in someones car or house.

Smoking is so unaccepted today, that you might as well be shooting up heroin in front of people.

I agree, and will wager that people do not consider this point.

I grew up around people who smoked like a chimney and I tend to believe that I have a natural addiction by association... which seemed to make it more like I had done it all along from all the second-hand smoke I inhaled. I finally broke the chain and have been free of that garbage now for about 3 months... have no desire to even look at any more tobacco.:disgust:

Hmmm, no cig smoking for me. I have had about a dozen cigars now over the last 5 years, they are alot of fun when playing poker with good friends. I would not call it a habit as it has been over a year since the last one (it was a way strong Cuban and I kinda swore them off for a while). So now the few I have just wait in my humidor for me...

Well, I don't touch cigarettes and I can't imagine why anyone would but I know alot of social smokers and it seems like they started pretty easily. It's all about the image and feeling you get from a cigarette after a drink, class, etc.

Oh yeh, Grey Goose goes down as smooth as water to me.

bleh, grey goose.... didn't like it.

The current state of your health is a big factor, too. No, it's not difficult to get started but some people do experience dizziness, headaches, sore throat...

I simply got a buzz when I first started.

So glad that part of my life is over. It made me very self-conscious.
