Ok, I called Intel and they told me I need 2 128mb of Ram for the upgrade I wanted. I bought them on pricewatch for 16 bucks each .... PC100/133 Low density.
When I try both of them >> I get black screen nothing else.
1 128 and 1 64 >> It boots up to a point where I get an error.
when I switch the sticks in the slots I get >> black screen
So I tried all combinations and it only works when I have the original and another 128mb in the second slot.
But windows won't boot.
The first screen (emachines logo screen) looks like it's in safe mode only weirder (with horizontal lines and other mischiefs) and then I get an error. And also for the error I get there are letters missing here and there so I kinda had to decipher it.
It says the file System...2/DRIVERS...ci.sys is either missing or is corrupt. (the 3 dots stand for one letter missing) I didn't get any beeps like I had previously with other high density ram.
I tried refreshing the CMOS each time after each try but with no avail. Maybe my BIOS could be outdated ??
It should work ...
Save me !
