Demo is out, just played through it and it brought back a bunch of great memories

I thought that engine looked pretty good, a definitely fine looking game. It played pretty darn smooth with 4xAA and 8xAF on too, but I had troubles changing it from the default (1024*768) resolution, it would hard lock my PC.

Just wondered what your guys opinions are! I think that it is great and could be very nice alternative to the CryEngine for large outdoor environments.

(And of course performance notes, if any, to keep it in the spirit of the Video forum )

If you loved part one, this one will bring even more confusion to the table. Personally doesn't appeal that much to me, but it's not bad. Graphics are ok, nothing spectacular.

I liked the game with one exception: the highest res. I can select from is 1280x960. Why am I not presented with the 1280x1024 option? That is my screen's native resolution...

The map was too small, with too few enemies. I am sure this will not be the case with all levels when the game is finally released. But for now, the game was over before I really warmed up to it. The graphics were pretty and well done. I cracked a couple of billboards with my rocket launcher and even managed to crack the display on the rocket launcher. In other words, your weapons can become damaged. Cool. I liked the parallax mapping on the walls and weapons as well.

All you X800 owners out there who want HDR should rejoice, enabling sets "All shaders to Version 2.0" per the command prompt brought up after loading the game with HDR enabled.

I am replaying @ 1600*1200 with HDR on and most things set to maximum, it is a little slower and I can't decide how much HDR is doing for me...

Never played SS before, but heard praise for SE. As this one is my first real intro to series, I must say it's pretty good. This game has more in common with Rachet and Clank than a PC FPS though (except for multiplayer support). You can even swith to 3rd person by pressing H. The aim cursor will remain on the screen and very playable, which just goes to show you that pinpoint accuracy is tno the focus of this game.

Played fine on my 19" LCD without stretching, just have to put up with tiny black bars which are nowhere near as apparant as if you try to do wide screen gaming with black bars. Definately isn't that big of a problem if it doesn't support 12x10.

Just played it with all detail settings turned up... I'd give it a 6.5/10 for graphics ...

In comparison I'd give BF2 all high a 9.5/10 and HL2 9/10

I don't think they're that bad. And I can't believe you give BF2 graphics such a high rating.

I can't even get the demo to run, audio is all gargled and mouse is jacked.

The ground looks really pretty though!

I just played SS:FE and had a BLAST. Just started playing SS:SE and it's even more intense. Two great games for $9.99.

As far as a SS game goes, it's not very good. It suffers from a very obvious case of Consolitis and while I was initially eagar to order the game, I think I'll skip it now.

As for HDR, what's the exact console command to set all shaders to 2.0, blckgrffn?

Just go to the advanced graphics controls and turn on HDR. Then, after you have loaded a level, check out the command prompt with the tilde (~) key, and it shows up right there

Agreed, BF2 certainly isn't the best looking game by *any* standard. It has good graphics, but certainly not the top tier.

SS was always a great game... I loved the mindless killing and the suicide bombers...

Yes, I have seen it with all the bells and whistles... I do not find it looking life like though, not as you say it. On a side note, high resolution should have no affect on something looking "real". Just look at normal HDTV at 480P, things look real there

I think the reason BF2 looks more real is due to the blurry and dark brown textures and so on... The realism leaves, when you look at the foliage and stuff like that, or the water. I just see BF2 as real blocky and not much scenery... MY OPINION!

Hmmm, Doesn't work on my X800. You verified that it works on X800?

work at almost max 1920x1200 low AA max texturing. x800xt, 1.5gig ram, barton 2500, nforce2.

I thought the game was great and cant wait for it. I even got coop to work, although we had specify IP. I am glad they included the vehicle. I thought the 3 big bad guys were the end....silly me.

In order to get past the gates, you have to kill all the baddies.

DID anyone find all three secrets?? I found the neanderthal athletes one, but couldn't find the other two.

The pop machine wasn't that funny

hmmm.... well, that sucks. I will go take a shot of what it looks like, I don't know if the console will show up, but it is worth a shot. If it is just shader model 2.0, HDR should be supported on ATI. It may be like SC:CT in that a patch will be forthcoming... sorry for the misinformation, just logically it should work...
