Its been argued over and over and you think youre going to get a straight answer now?

Each has its strengths and weaknesses, there is no overall winner. Deal with it!

Can't say for sure about the 4 speaker setup, but I'm not really all that pleased with a Santa Cruz and Klipsch 2.1 setup. I get too much distortion if I go past half volume.

In looking at "Best overall" you have to keep in mind that the Klipsch cost more than double what the Logitech costs. If price is no concern than certainly get the Klipsch.

I sure have come across a lot of "I blew my Z560's...again" threads over the past year.

I might be bias since I own a Klipsch. The Klipsch is the best speakers I ever had. My vote goes to Klipsch if cost is not a factor.

Cambridge Soundworks Megaworks 510D. Yes, they are 5.1, but there is no 4.1 set available and they are in the same price range as the Klipsch 4.1. If you are looking for the best all around speakers in the sub $500 range then these are it. Much smoother/warmer sounding and musical than the Klipsch.

Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks 510D

"In the end I find the fuller and better sound stage delivered by the satellites together with the excellent deep, detailed and powerful bass response more than makes up for the less detailed treble compared to the Sirocco Crossfire. That is the MegaWorks 510D has replaced the Sirocco Crossfire as my favorite multichannel multimedia system."

3D Soundsurge thought the Crossfire's were better than the Klipsh, so if they think the 510D's beat the Crossfires, that should tell you something about how good they are for multimedia speakers.

Just to add, unless you are on a tight budget, the Logitech's don't belong in this debate, they are not on the same level of the upper echelon sets. There's a reason they cost about half what the others do, you need only look at the build quality.

I've noticed that the vast majority of those people seem to think the Z560's are cheap alternatives for a home theater/stereo setup instead of computer speakers just because it has massive bass. But yes, they certainly do seem to have more than their fair share of failures.

I'd have to say that price is pretty much the only deciding factor between the Logitech's and Klipsch's. People who want to spend $300 will spend it on Klipsch. People who want to spend $140 will buy Logitech. It seems like it has very little to do with sound quality. I do find Klipsch to be WAY overpriced though. In their price range, as Pariah pointed out, there are other sets that whoop on Klipsch.

I have a set of 560's and two friends have sets of 560's and none of us have blown our speakers out. Maybe they had a bad production run for a while, but I think that the Z-560's are built as well as anything else.

The Logitech Z560 and Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speaker systems are known to have a relatively high failure rate... the ProMedia 4.1, ProMedia 4.2, and ProMedia 2.1 systems seems not to be effected.

3DSS did not say the 510D was better than the ProMedias... they basically called it a close call and I believe that there were different reviewers for the 510D and PM5.1 (neither actually listening to the other speaker solution).

Yes, once again, if you read the entire reviews for both speaker systems, you will see that the 2 reviewers for the respective speaker systems conclude that the 2 are very closely matched and that neither heard the other speaker system while they were writing their respective reviews.

The 510D review was recently appended to reflect the performance of the retail version. The initial review did not compare the Klipsch 5.1 to the 510D, but the updated conclusion makes it obvious that the reviewer has listened to both sets. For example:

"The ProMedia 4.1/5.1 satellites match or even slightly beat that satellite bass extension, but falls somewhat but noticeably behind the Crossfire and MM2000 when it comes to the smoothness of the midrange."

You can't make that statement if you have not heard the speakers yourself.

I have the Logitech z560's and I love them. You must turn down the bass, both on the windows slider, and on the logitech knob. The Logitech's at default has way too much bass. I had to turn down the knob to 1/3 and the slider almost all the way down, for the bass to sound realistic. I would say the people that blew their sets, did not turn down their bass amounts. I use an Audigy, and found the sliders best at one notch up for treble, and slighty below the lowest notch for bass. This gives the most realistic sound, and lessen's the probability of blowing the speakers.

klipsch. and if they had a high failure rate, why are they still selling them? i'm pretty sure they allow like less than 2% at the most, maybe even 1% error for Klipsch if at all.

It would be strange if I didn't see this question asked at least once a week.

If you don't mind spending the money go with Klipsch...otherwise, pocket the difference and get the 560's.

This issue is always going to be talked about ! A friend of mine has the Logitech Z560's and he loves them... no issues with the subwoofer blowing out at all. I think that you're right that it was just a bad batch of speakers at one point. After this poll.. I think I would lean towards the Logitech speakers due to the awesome cost/performance of them. They are a great value! Hope this helps out a little.

I have the Klipsch 5.1's. Yes indeed they are incredibly awesome. They sound better than my home entertainment center.
