No, I didn't say the knobs were broken off on all of them. Only one. But one or more satellites didn't work, the bass module didn't work, basically some combination of broken knobs, satellites, and bass unit on 4 out of 5 sets. NONE of the other speaker models were broken...

What's the point of critizing those reviews? You realize those kinds of sites also review Klipsch and Altec Lansing speakers, don't you? You also keep ignoring reviews from respected sites such as 3dsoundsurge. Are they a crappy review site or not?

I realize they review other speakers. I didn't say anyone was a crappy review site. Don't you realize they have a VERY game-oriented perspective/bias? And that includes their reviews of other speakers. I'm guessing that's why their name is 3dsoundsurge and not hifisoundsurge. Think about it. BTW, I made my buying decision based on my evaluation - not on what ANY reviewer said.

I don't hate them at all - if you actually read my posts you would know that I said if all you care about is gaming then you should get the 560's and you'll be happy. What I DO hate are all the morons who have no clue what they are talking about in terms of music reproduction thinking that the Logitech's are great performers in that respect, when by any "hifi" standards they are clearly inferior to many of the other speakers being discussed. People who follow the flock like sheep and spout the same hype they hear without any objective thought or evaluation deserve what they get. No doubt most users are very happy with their Z560's - the shame is that I think many of them would have been even happier if they had taken the time to think for themselves and look at some alternatives. After all, if all you've ever eaten is rotten cabbage you might think that tastes pretty good. Until you try something better.

What about the Altec Lansing ADA-890s? Now THOSE are good speakers!! And mine by the way And if it matters to you at all, they have the THX Certification as well.

you seemed to indicate that if I found the sound quality of the 560's decent then I must have something as a frame of reference like a boombox.

my home audio system consists of Boston Acoustic VR-950 tower speakers. I have boston acoustics bipolar rear speakers, boston center channel, Infinity 10" 100 w integrated subwoofer, and it's all driven by a Yamaha RX-V900 dolby digital reciever.

Although my home audio system might not be audiophile quality for some folks, it sounds quite nice (and at $2500 for just the speakers, subwoofer and amplifier it ought to) so I do think I know what I am talking about when I say that the Z560's sound decent.

The build quality is not crap either, the knobs don't fall off, the grills are straight and everything is extremely solid. I get no resonance from any of the housings used to put the speakers together.

Maybe a few people did get some crappy ones that they had problems with, but as I indicated previously I have a set and two friends have sets and we are all very happy with them for MP3 listening (for serious stuff I hook my nomad jukebox 3 up to my home stereo) game playing and watching the odd DVD movie on the PC.

ever feel the massive heatsink on a z560 even when its not in use? yes its bloody warm.. not exactly a good design.

The z560s may be solidly built, but they are not made with any sort of quality. If you knew the amount of work it took to get the damn sub open, youd be amazed. Theyre heavy, they look nice and solid, but internally they are junk.

I have never ever had a set of multimedia speakers blow out on me. Until I got the z560s. They were not misused in any way. Just blew out on me, and they werent even playing that loud. I saw everyone complaining about how easy they were to blow, how they had to RMA blah blah. I thought not me, I don't abuse speakers, I wont have any problems. Wrong.

That was 2 months ago. To this date, I'm STILL waiting for my replacement, logitech themselves have it on backorder. I asked the CSR why, and she told me because they didnt expect to have to send so many replacements out.

Most people probably wont have any issues with the 560s. If you dont abuse the knobs, you wont have any trouble with that. If youre not concerned about absolutely transparent sound, the z560s will make you very very happy for the money. But be warned, and dont cry when they blow, because theres a damn good chance they will, and you will need to get a replacement set of speakers on your own.
