Ok like me most of the people that got in on the recent Dell Server Deals will have to get some more memory. Unfortunately these servers do not take run of the mill ordinary PC2100 DDR, but require so called registered ECC DDR. Since it's mainly used in professional applications it is not as widely available as ordinary PC2100 DDR RAM and thus is more expensive...

In general 512 MB is probably the minmum one should consider, and 1x512 appears to be generally cheaper than 2x256MB. Crucial and Dell want $80 for 256MB and $145 for 512. Admitted this would be a worry-free purchase, but considering the recent decline in memory pricing it's too rich for me.
Until yesterday www.bananpc.com seemed to have the lowest price of $70+$6S&H for 512MB of WinTech with Micron chips, but they appear to be OOS.
Today there are a couple of vendors on www.pricewatch.com that have prices starting at $77 shipped. The cheapest is a vendor called 11cb.com, but could not find the product on their site....
