Service Pack seperate ?

I'm setting up my new computer and I'm up to the software part. Now, I made one partion on my hard drive, installed windows there, but I don't want to go online with a "naked" system. I heard there was a stand alone service pack that you can download, burn to cd, and install so you don't have to go with a "naked" system?

The network install of service pack 2 (Windows XP Home/Pro) or service pack 4 (Windows 2000) is what you need. You can grab the at the Microsoft website.

This is probably what you are looking for. Its the full XP SP2 in one .exe file.

Another option, is enable the Windows Firewall built into XP, then connect your network cable, and hop online.

An even better option is actually creating a new XP install disc which already has XP Service Pack 2 installed. This is called slipstreaming. Search for that on Google... It makes for a much nicer, smoother, and safer install.

And at this point, its probably not a bad idea, since you only have a brand new install anyway.

You could get the full SP2 CD free from MS Here:
