Why does your side even keep up the farce that you support immigration laws? It would be refreshingly honest to just admit you support open borders and seek the repeal of immigration laws. Do you really cherish the slave labor the immigrants provide and feel the need to keep the laws on the books just in case you need to threaten them with deportation if they step out of line (or worse yet, support a Republican)?

One does have to wonder at the motivation. I welcome new immigrants to the USA and just looking at the help wanted signs in factories, trades and so forth, as I drive across the Midwest we could use a lot more. But we are a nation of laws and if one breaks the law, then we either need to change it or enforce it. Until the law is changed, the only right course is to enforce.

As for the separation of family thing; if dad is a convicted criminal (insert offense(s)) yet mom and the kids are decent human beings send dad packing and let the rest stay if so warranted. Employers should be punished under the various employment laws governing hiring illegals to discourage it.

If they've falsified their documents, Form I-9 immediately comes to mind as it allows an individual to use multiple forms to comply with section 2, then it should be grounds for immediate deportation and if someone has been harmed by the act they should be punished and then deported.

Beat the fuck out of that straw man. Meanwhile back in the real world I support the following:

1. Provide a path to legalization for those that are here.
2. Hold employers accountable, if you really care about doing something this is really the only step.
3. Create a guest worker program with strict controls including requirements to pay fair wages for industries that need seasonal workers.
4. Enhance border security through modern means (aka not a 30 foot wall that can be beat with a 31 foot ladder)
5. Make the legal process easier and faster, reduce the incentives to come illegally in the first place.
6. Allow more legal immigrants.

We support immigration laws, while maintaining a sense of humanity. I think most liberals prefer to do it on the economic side - dis-incentivize people to come here illegally by eliminating the economic conditions to come here created by a system that wants to exploit labor, in this case by hiring those outside the legal bubble. Also pay those with worker visas fair wages as well.

Border security was still implemented by Obama, just we feel we don't need a 25+ billion dollar wall in addition to that.
