Below is the quote from MgKnight on their final attempt to pass the TeAm before the end of SETI 1. This is our last chance to build something to withstand that charge and maybe even push it off. We need ideas here to bring life to the TeAm...this is a new year....many battles fought last year.....many games won....many happy crunchers. If we sit and wait to mount the charge, we will be left behind.....

Now it is YOUR turn
What you will see in my next post will within minutes appear in all of the other Distributed Computing Team forums. Put your Starfire pride on your chest and go find a Buddy, NOW! If you have two machines, find two Buddies, if three then three... you know the rest of the numbers I am sure. Do not spam the other forums please. Keep your posts that you are looking for a buddy in the original thread only, please!

Know and commit yourself to this though. For each day that your buddy crunches SETI for Team Starfire you will return that day to their project commencing the day after SETI@home Phase I ends, no exceptions. Well, maybe two days if you need assistance in setting up the project.

I will start a "Buddy Thread" and ask that you post in it who your Buddy is and what team they will be coming from. It is entirely up to you and your buddy to keep track of the days. Stay in touch with them, please.

5 in 4 IS Doable!! Do you want it? Are you willing to work and sweat for it? If so then maintain the Starfire integrity, keep your words and actions above board and let's go get it! We must take it ourselves, nobody is going to hand it to us.

5 in 4 IS doable!!
MgKnight
Ambassador at Large
Team Starfire

Team Starfire is currently ranked seventh in the world. Team AnandTech, whom we have developed a great rivalry and some truly fantastic friendships with over the past couple years, currently resides in sixth place. Our rivalry has taken many turns over the past few years. A few times we led them in the standings. They are a formidable team and have some truly energetic members who achieve unbelievable results when they put out their call for assistance to keep us behind them in the standings. Now I, as Ambassador at Large of Team Starfire, am putting out the call to you for your assistance.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we can achieve this goal before the end of the current phase. I also know that to achieve that goal your help is needed. Though we have separate identities and goals, we here at BroadBandReports are one massive Distributed Computing Team, all with our own chosen specialties. As I said before in the past, many of us have had our computers working side by side on all the various teams.

Do you know?

I personally think that 5 in 4 is also doable....but on THIS side. What do you think?

Comments....thoughts.......nervous ticks (Smoke! )......Let me hear them....

oh....and a phrase that must be brought out of the closet and dusted off.....

more...more...more! :Q

(P.S. Due to large flushes by BBR and a TeAmmate leaving, we have lost our lead of 84k and are now in the 35k range. That lead will not last but a few weeks, if even that, at our current pace. )

Edit: There are rumors that they have a FAT stash of WU's ready to flush when they get a little (and I mean little) closer. Maybe numbering in the 10's of thousands...........scarey times call for drastic actions!

Yes, that's what OcUK did a couple of years back, and look where we are now.

Ok upgraded one of my personal boxes to a 2500+ running 11@182=2gig froma an old 1.33 gig tbird and added another 2800+box. Also got the guy with the P43.0c box to stop putting his box in suspend. did all this in the past week and boosted my production from about 20WUs a day to 36-42 a day. thats all i have for now but will keep the eyes peesled for more opportunities.

And to think.. I was *just* about to pull the plug on my Athlon 2000 box or possibly move it to another project. Guess where i'm staying after reading this evil thread. =)

Sadly, i'm maxed out on processing power (and thankfully so... It's that time of the year where space heaters come in handy.)

And just like that ill-fated admiral awoke the United States from its "It's their problem" slumber, has the TeAm awoken the folks at Starfire.

An apt analogy indeed. For if you recall your history, Pearl Harbor was nearly destroyed by the Japanese, such as Starfire was so handily fended off during your recent recruitment spree.

History seems to favor the underdog on this one.

I will concentrate all of my fire power on the Seti front. I will then return fully to the DPAD battle. Here's hoping that DanC and the rest of his brigade can hold the lines while I rally my forces behind TeAm Anandtech Seti!

***bugle call*** CHARGE!!!!

Uh...last time I saw, the Japanese were defeated.........

(Analogy: Your New Years burst was similar to Pearl Harbor.....caught us off guard....NEARLY wiped us out.....)

Thanks for the motivation Gunner....feel free to post some more!

Well I'll keep on crunching for sure!

In at the start of seti, in for the finish

I'd pledge my crunching herd to any project out there in trade for them moving to seti now, so if there's someone who would like to help us out but doesn't want to hurt their own project long term they could trade their cycles now for mine later.

We did this during RC5-64 & OGR and it worked out well, there's no reason we shouldn't do it again!

Is it overclocked at all?
What kind of WU times are you getting now versus what you had before?
Was the 1600 overclocked? How high?

Hopefully, will get about 15 to 20 more WU's per day from work. Seems a few PC's quit on me while we've been shut down (12 days now).

"We just started about a 5000 wu dump, should help a little."

...very cool - every "little bit" helps...
