SETI Driver hidden?

Is there any way to hide the SETI Driver icon in the taskbar so it's running in the background but not shown?

Perhaps run it as a service, but I don't know if that would do it.

You might want to try SETI Hide instead of Driver if you want to hide the icon.

I second the motion on using Seti Hide if you want to hide the icon. It is a very smooth operator and has caching which I don't believe the Flexinstaller does. Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong.

I have used SetiHide as well to "hide" the icon.

However, I have found that SetiHide isn't as reliable as SetiDriver. I have had several instances where SetiHide has stopped flushing and fetching WUs for no apparent reason. This is why I prefer to run SetiDriver over SetiHide.

I have put seti hide on several machines, and it's been running on those machines for years. Although it depends on what OS your trying to run it on. Below 2k or so SetiHide is the way to go, only thing readibly visible is when you ctrl-alt-del it shows OldWinApp. Unless the person is using performance monitoring tools they won't know it's running. Now on NT machines pick your flavor it shows performance, and unless you have admin rights to that machine you can't put it on as a service. IMO the best way to install the SETI client on WinNT/2K/XP machines is as a service with a reliable (24/7 & on battery backup) local SetiQ machine running on the same network. I'd rather cache WU's in one central spot than on the individual clients and running a SetiQ makes it so easy to monitor your clients.

You can't end the process from the Task Manager window but you can stop the service from Services or from the command line (net stop setiservicename). Of course, you still have to be an admin...
