The project is now officially active. We've 'reset' the project by deleting all results and workunits, and setting all credits (user, team, host) to zero.

http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/

Of course, it can mean officially active for beta-testing...

Edit, they've changed the text:

June 22, 2004
Welcome to the new SETI@home! The project is now officially active. We've reset the project by deleting all results and workunits, and setting all credits (user, team, host) to zero.

hmmmm We just activated the Rebel Alliance account and they are some 16k off on our stats for seti@home 1 .
I wish they would set a time frame for ending seti1 so people would know how much longer it is going to last.

As for end of seti classic, they'll have to finnish programming the separate gui before... so basically no idea...

As for the "classic" score, maybe haven't posted this over here, but the stats was finnished pulled 14. May 2004, while the 1st new user is from 2. June... Oh, and apparently the account# is the same as your standing in seti classic, while new users started on 3336814 so most 0-crunchers is dropped.

Hmm, v3.19 core just released, to fix a problem then server is down...

Oh, and personally was already planning to stop doing seti@home "classic" today, and if haven't missed my target should finnish my last in 7 minutes time.

So are they going to update the seti1 stats with the current numbers or what?

Since they didn't update the numbers now while they cleaned out all results I doubt it...

... but haven't seen any official comment on this.

Yeah, that's what I'd like to know as well. I tried to switch my S@H1 client over to the TABOO account 2 nights ago and it never started working. I then tried to put it back on my account and that wouldn't work either. In the end I just uninstalled the client and it's been idle since then.

I'm on my wireless laptop now and the BOINC client is running 100% for the SETI project. When I tried to connect back to one of my other rigs to browse a share it took *a lot* longer to display the share and much longer to navigate through the files/folders. I changed my preferences to not do work unless I'm idle for 15 minutes. Will see how this works...

I know what you mean!
We are just over 32 days from 200k and it would be nice to know how much time we have. I mean do I need to move everything back to seti to reach that or what? If I do then the time falls from 32 day to around 22 days, will 10 days make a different?

I was reading the instructions for compiling your own BOINC, and it scared me! Then I realized it was for the SERVER side stuff.

The URL of this project is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu. If you joined using a different URL, please detach and attach to this URL.

As for how much time, my guess is atleast a month since you're "active" in seti@home classic if returned anything the last 4 weeks.

I am setting up BOINC and SAH, I don't see how to adjust Seti's "resource share". I want to balance it between SAH and FAH.
Thanks

Well, start bugging Vijay Pande of releasing a BOINC-version, and then this is released you can set the resource-share.

Thanks, but no thanks. I like my F@H client just as it is, and don't want the stats reset again.

Since BOINC doesn't really seem to have any controls to do this, I think one would need to reconfigure F@H from Lowest priority to one notch above Lowest, then set its CPU usage amount to 50% (or whatever). In theory, that should balance them out. I'm going to test that myself in a while, and will report back how it works.

Not bad, i'm about 24 hours away from my goal of 25k for seti classic, so after that i guess i'll start transitioning all my machines over to boinc.

Actually the one installation I have done so far went pretty smooth.

1. My main thing right now is what to do with all the queueing and watch programs I'm using to monitor Seti Classic. I guess we get rid of them?

2. It looks like SetiBoinc does it's own queueing? It looks like two WU's?

3. Does this put the queue's like Smoke's and the others out of business? I see where you can go to a proxy server, so I guess you can get your two WU's that way still........(This is Pokey rambling)..........

To keep things simple, I plan to just run Seti and Folding on separate boxes for a while until I sort out some of these issues.

Change is good right??

Change your preferences here In the boinc windows project tab right klick on the project of choice and choose update. Take a little time to update though or you'll get an error message. "Last RPC call x seconds ago" I set my s@h preferences to 3 to 4 days. Works like a charm.

For caching, BOINC as already mentioned has it's own cache. So if example set 2-4 days it will cache 4 days, but note it will not ask for more work before dips down below 2 days. This includes any currently crunching work.
At the same time, any "ready to report" results is reported back and they will not show up on web-page before this.

As for monitoring, there's a boinc-spy that apparently is something similar to seti-spy... No idea how good they are, since never used either of them.

Currently there's nothing like setiqueue, but most can use a normal http-proxy if needed...

Okay, I'm confused. I've been running my P3-1Ghz laptop, P4-1.6A @ 2.2Ghz, and P4-2.4C @ 3.2Ghz for a while now. I would've expected to have some credit but I see none. Also, when I check the teams listing I'm not showing up as an AnandTech member. In fact, only 1 member shows up. And when I try to join I get, "Unable to add Robor - TeAm AnandTech. You are already a member of Anandtech."

My clients are working (using CPU time) but I have no idea if they are actually doing anything.

TeAm AnandTech and Anandtech appear to be different teams. if you want to join TeAm AnandTech you need to quit Anandtech first. thats how i interpret that message you are getting.
