Those are GTX 690's which are dual cards. He's only got three physical cards in the machine that looks like 6 (3X2)...

And new egg has them for only $1,000 apiece............ (with free shipping)
That takes care of 3 grand now for the rest. (For those that can't tell this is with big old tongue in cheek)

Unless there is a cheaper work around for us home builders these PCI-E extenders look expensive so far as I can tell, at least the ready-built boxes. If anyone out there knows of any links to DIY info, I would like to know so I can at least read about the subject.

Well, there you have it.
Both my Pisces group and Team Anandtech finished middle of the pack but I enjoyed seeing all the teams and people from all over the world. Looking forward to next year. Maybe I'll have some more powerful GPUs then. :twisted:

What did you do and how much better are you doing?

I didn't even know I could run two WUs on a GPU until you mentioned it. So I got two WUs running on each GPU. The increase is hard to quantify but it looks like a jump from roughly 125,000 to 150,000 credits. Lane42 hit pretty close I think with the 20K est. It takes so long for RAC to kick in, so I'm WAGing it to some extent.
The ticket is to edit the app_info.xml and change coproc sections so that cuda /type reads: <count>0.5</count> everywhere.

The cantankerous one had two different GPUs, but I found the workaround for that and applied it..............and both went to work.
That change involved adding a cc_config.xml in the BOINC appdata folder.
Apparently if the cards match they run automatically but if not only the faster one runs unless you instruct it to <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>. There is more to it than that and if anyone is interested I can give the whole layout, it is just a few lines, but the info is out there.

How many GPUs?

How much did temperature increase?

Ten Fermi cards, two per MB. (I left the non-Fermi's alone.)

Temps on the GTX 560s are running in the 70-75 deg C range. with 95% plus GPU usage. With the GTX460s running 65-70 deg. range.

One other thing:
I did cut CPUs in BOINC manager to 90% which drops one core for use by the GPUs. (a recommendation I saw on the seti forums by someone in the GPUUG.)
