Lol, no probs .

Someone mentioned suspended units being sent, can't see how if their not completed mind you , I've got a single 1 suspended atm & it's been there for a few days....

Yeah, I don't understand that either.

I messed around with suspending this one realllly big WU my cute little DC laptop is working on, and it looked like it just paused, dl'd a new unit, and started working on that.

I for one do not know the answer, and have not run across it. I did read that Seti may limit the work units to 100 for CPUs and 200 for GPUs so it may not be possible to bunker any more.
If you come across the answer give us a report.

The way way i'm currently doing it is suspending network activity in boinc and once all the wus are done, i'm going to suspend seti and crunch something else until the race starts. The most wus I've received is 200 when allowing the cpu and gpu to crunch. 100 when it was either cpu or gpu. I tried suspending wus but it would still submit them, I also tried suspending them when they were almost completed but I wouldn't get new wus because boinc would see that I had wus that were suspended.

Where is a way around the 100-wu-limit...

... since this relies on the info reported by the BOINC-client, and very old clients doesn't report the wu's...

... but, if not mistaken, this means pre-v4.45, since v4.45 supports the re-issue of "lost" wu, since this client sends info about all wu's on client...

It is a possibility the client relies on some other info added in a later client, but regardless of client it's atleast pre-GPU so...

Another possibility is to setup multiple virtual machines, since this is a different machine of course each machine is allowed 100 CPU-wu's. No idea how large the impact of running virtual machine is...

Yea that's what I meant, suspend the WU before it's finished, you could grab a bunch before hand then suspend them as you go. But it's a right PITA to do that!
I'm not bothering, but I will start crunching SETI ~1 week before the race so I hopefully will have a steady flow credits by the time the race starts.

Your astrological sign determines the group you are put with for this challenge. It is pretty neat actually. Kind of like shuffling the deck and putting us with different people from all over the world.

Well, set.germany keeps all kinds of stats. You can see how Team Anandtech does as well as many other combinations. In fact "we" came in 7th last year out of 120 teams that had members participating............ not too bad for just 13 people.

Ah yea, just found the teams listing .
And Team AnandTech list

So presumably the stats are reset to 0 at the beginning of the race?
What's the needles thing about??

Don't forget to register for the race, I had too .

Ok, so I have a six core AMD and Seti is only running two tasks and using 33% of the cpu's.
How does one make it use all six?
Also does Seti not use nvidia cards? Need 256 ram (So not enough ram on that card, so that answers that)
Posting here b4 looking for answers. Off to see what I can figure out.

As you may have already found out, check your preferences on Seti web site, and then make sure gpu computing is checked and the lines for nvidia and/or ati/intel say yes.

Check your local manager client under tools>preferences to verify you are set locally to 100%

If you are into that sort of thing, find Lunitics optimized apps and install over the standard BOINC software.

A good place to get questions answered is the Seti message boards under Number Crunching. Some pretty knowledgeable people there.

Good Luck

50% of all my computer resources now set to seti@home -for a hot test and collection of credits ... and collection of WUs, of course ...

Figured out the problem. Had to change the global config on that machine and have all running now

Will my C2Q be better off with an optimised app or will the std app be well enough optimised for my old CPU?

I have a Q6600 and a Q8200 both running with optimized. Whether it does any good or not I couldn't tell you...........

I set it up a couple years ago and have never tried to run without it. I just always optimize. Might be a good question for the seti/number crunchers.

A1, like Pokey I always used the op aps so iam not sure how much
faster they are then the standard aps, but I think there a good
deal faster.

Hmm, ok, I think I'll stick to the std app over the weekend (I'm switching to SETI either tonight or tomorrow morning depending on when the other projects run out of WUs), then I'll switch to an optimised app & see if theirs a difference .

I found actual instructions on how to "bunker", the link is below.

http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2092

I have NOT read it yet nor have I used it, so you are on your own here................... I am just passing it along to our TeAm for info purposes.

EDIT
OK, I have read the instructions and it occurred to me that if you have more than one computer bunkering it could run into a good bit of time to set and keep track. Also, it seems to me that some of us might be bunkering unintentionally because all work has to be validated by others and if they are bunkering, your work will not get credited until they dump............
So while I personally am not bunkering, I might be................. :sneaky:

I've been able to check ppd of some gpu wus, sstropulse gives me better ppd than regular seti wus. Averaging 20 wus with astropulse I get 34k ppd compared to setiv7 which gets 15k ppd. This is on a stock clocked 7950. I haven't completed any astropulse cpu (they're currently in my cache) to compare to setiv7 cpu wus. I ran boinc with only allowing astropulse wus for about 2 days and only managed to cache about 110 wus.
