And if I'm not mistaken we opened up our lead on China by over 200k!

Thx for the stats Petrus
I'm just not catching OK! In fact I think he's opened up the gap on me?

We are doing good. I do not think that we will lose our position - but there is the possibility of one big dump from someone ...

Thanks for the stats, Peter.

GLeeM and I have a very close race going. We've "leaped-frogged" about 14 times by my count!

Observations:

Looks like our positions are pretty stable now near the end, so I am setting no new work and backing off.

The Pisces group, which includes Joe and I, is dead last………….. as much due to our small size as anything.

Our TeAm Anandtech held it’s own. The team is in 6th place which is very good. Our points (credit) per user is actually excellent. We just had a small team.

The challenge drew a huge crowd this year and some huge teams……………..

As always, it has been a pleasure searching for ET with all of you. And thanks Peter for all you do.

Weird I swore I posted yesterday ...........

An interesting mix of teams have joined in .

OK is definitely pulling away from me, now 52k ahead.
My star group is 4th , just down to luck really! Oh & by coincidence the number of people match my birth year .

Thanks for all the stats Petrus, & it's been fun hunting ET with you guys again .
I shall keep crunching at full tilt until my RAC peaks (I'm curious) & then I shall switch my main rig back to, err something!

A very smooth race, probably my first SETI-race without any server-problems at all.

Thanks to petrusbroder for the stats.

Also a thanks to SETI.Germany for organising the yearly WOW-event.

As for Folding@home, my initial response is D:

What's wrong with F@H??
As this SETI@home race showed, the things you need to do to run SETI@home is:
1: Configure BOINC and let it run, also includes installing optimized SETI@home-applications if so desires.
2: Where aren't a point-2.

As a comparison, for Folding@home you have:
1: Configure FAH-client.
2: Pre-run 10 wu's with your passkey before gets ok points. (already done previous years)
3: Baby-sit client, in case has got permanently stuck during connection, something FAH-client can't handle on it's own.
4: If uses GPU, baby-sit client, remember to pause GPU before you uses computer, and remember to unpause GPU again after you've used computer. ==> very easily this leads to crashed wu since you forgot to pause GPU, and idle GPU since you forgot to unpause GPU.
5: Even if did remember to pause GPU and resume it again, it's a random chance the wu still craps-out.
6: Even if you're only using CPU, if you're using the computer for anything except crunching FAH (and dust-bunnies), the wu either gets stuck while you're using computer or you'll need to leave atleast one core free at all times. ==> idle cpu.
7: FUBAR point-system.
8: If you're unlucky enough to use an Nvidia, you needs to fool-around with various settings to hopefully get core-17 work and not core-15, since even core-15 was EOL last year it's still active and gives crappy points.
9: Frequent server-outages.
10: Toxic "support"-forums, if is unlucky enough and needs to ask about something.
11: FAH has more than once sent invalid work to computers, example sends NVIDIA-work to Amd-GPU. ==> Leads to permamently stuck client, since client can't handle the fact where aren't a core-15 downloadable from the Amd-directory.

After a very smooth and error-free SETI@home-race, thinking about needing to baby-sit the FAH-client isn't my top priority, wherefore my initial response about FAH.

While FAH does have many problems, colder weather and me cooling-off, and forgetting about how smooth the SETI@home-race really was, I won't rule-out come December I'll take part in this years FAH-race also.

LoL!
Yes, there is a big difference between a BOINC-race with a solid project (Seti@home, PrimeGrid and a few others) and the annual Holiday Season F@H Race.
But there will be a F@H-Race coming December - because it does so much good for the TeAm - the past years we hace produced som 10 - 12% of the yearly production in December ...
And it is also a lot of fun.

Yea F@H is more complicated, but I've never, or at least so rare I don't remember having point 3, I just set & forget.
4. Not done GPU crunching since the early days of my old HD 4830 , & realised it was a bit of a waste on an ATI/AMD card (still is bar the 7900s??).
6. Interesting point, I never had a problem on Win XP, but as soon as I moved to Win 7 I noticed it caused pausing & stuttering in games , no probs with surfing or watching vids though, AFAIR (not run it since February).
9. Don't remember that, recent problem?
10. Only rarely used their forum but don't recall a problem *shrug*
11. Damn!

Out of interest, does anyone know when the 1st December F@H TA race was?
