eh, i'm actually not a big fan of the search for aliens; i suspect that all life shares a common evolutionary path and that it changes from organic to non-, therefore expecting space travellers and galactic empires is a bit dumb (and a waste of money).

my opinions are supported by zero fact.

The existence of the Americas was also supported by "zero fact" until Leif Eriksson, Vasco da Gama and Christofer Columbus discovered them. And there were empires (Maya, Inca, Aztec and others) but the "world" (Europe, Africa, Asia) did not know about them; and there were ocean travelers (from the Americas to Oceania's islands) but only the people in the Americas and Oceania knew about that - not the majority of the world.
The lack of facts does not prove anything about what may or may not be out there.
We did not know anything about atoms until Rutherford postulated and discovered them.
We did not know about penicillin until Flemming looked for it and found it.
Etc., etc., etc.

Lol, ok, well I say you're nearly totally wrong! , if sentient species turn non-organic it would take an extremely long time & so there would be plenty of time to explore & possibly spread through the galaxy!, oh & I 2nd what Petrus said .

I've not had SETI tasks since they went to v8(?). I've reset the project on a few of the boxes, uninstalled Lunatics, no tasks (well, no GPU tasks anyway). I know (think) they didn't have GPU tasks at first, is that still the case?

Btw, how far in advance should I start crunching for ppd to peak? (is it due to wingman delays?).

I'm running the latest Lunatics (.44b) and get GPU and CPU tasks

You have to do more than Reset the project.
After seti went to Ver 8, a certain amount of selective editing needed to be done to do both 7 & 8 WU’s. After the ver 7 WU’s were gone I finished all and just cleaned house and started over. In the process I found out that Ver 8 uses Lunatics code so I did not install .44b and have been crunching along just fine for months now. I have no data on which approach is fastest, and if I had Lunatics installed I would leave it. I may yet install it if I find out it is superior.

When I get into the multi-gpu and multi-WU per, then I expect to create an app_config file which I expect to find somewhere on the seti number crunching forum.

Tony make sure you have the v8 option checked in the preferences of your account, I believe if you aren't new it is not selected by default

v8 option checked now, on BOTH the default and WORK profiles, lol, how'd I miss that there was a 2nd profile? Receiving work units now as a test. :thumbsup:

The short answer may be 37.38 hours, as that is listed as the "Result turnaround time (last hour average)." Wingman validation certainly is a factor.

Looks like racers can bunker for this race, Mark, so the better question may be "How many days worth of work will SETI give you?"
