the S@H server lets each client hold at most 300 tasks in progress.
Correction:
The limit is
100 GPU tasks in progress, per card,
100 CPU tasks in progress (per host or per CPU?) edit: see Kiska's post below.

I've had some problems with GPU tasks from 2nd/3rd BOINC clients on the same computer, taking far more than an hour, when it should be only 12-20 minutes (4 at a time per GPU).
I have seen such variations too. Could this just be the difference between
opencl_nvidia_SoG (fast) and cuda42/cuda50 (slow)?
Besides the different application versions, there are also different work units,
named *aa.* ... *ae.* with data from Arecibo,
named *guppi* with data from Green Bank.

But as far as I can see, runtime differences between these WU types are rather small, compared to the huge runtime differences of the application versions.

Here is a C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\app_config.xml which contains entries for current NVidia GPU applications:
In addition to the three Nvidia application versions which I listed there, there are also "cuda32" and "cuda23". But I have not received them so far.

Further correction:
100 GPU tasks per GPU
100 CPU task per device(be it dual socket or quad socket)
1000 tasks per host (a hardcoded limit in the client)
That can be changed if you change 2 lines of code in the source and compile it yourself
Boinc doesn't care if you have a 64 core quad socket system, the scheduler sees it as if you had a, 64 core single socket system
A good quote on the S@H forums
BOINC --> You havee vone CPU, you have 4 CPU's, I Don' Care! I see Noth-ink! You geet 100! No More! (using my best Sgt. Schultz impersonation) lol

My original/primary manager on Thunder-Strike can't get GPU tasks, but the secondary can. Weird. Anyway, it ran out for an unknown amount of time yesterday.

My output is lower than hoped, but 47% of all my tasks are pending, so I guess that explains it.

SETI is a weird DC project. I have not touched any of my machines for days, but 2 days ago, it said I was doing like 10k per day. Today 86k SO FAR !!

Whats up with that ? I have 96 cores (threads) and 2 980TI's. I wonder how far these stats will go ?

Stefan, thank you for all your help. I just applied the multi GPU app and it works like a charm.

I was just about to write up a few more notes how to apply this app_config... Good that you got it working already.

We made it onto rank 10 on Saturday, I think. (Or was it Friday already?) This position looks stable for now.
Yeah, we already have 600k+ buffer to Planet3DNow and also another 500k gap to Francophone in 9th. Once all of TeAm's powerhouses get online, all of the sudden we jump into the big 10.
I'm really sorry because I have a miniscule contribution to the TeAm, but my fiscal condition doesn't allow me to grab another card.

Got back home from vacation to find my computers shut down and the cable modem stuck in a state suspended animation. By the looks of it I had a 3 hr power outage at some point. Probably severe thunder storm with lightning. Everything is back to "normal" now with no apparent permanent damage.

Four day equivalent of no production. Had to happen during an event. I have a couple of choice words for Murphy, but will save them for now.

Come on Pokey, let's sing:

Chumbawamba - Tubthumping

I get knocked down. I get up again!
You never going to keep me down!

I get knocked down. I get up again!
You never going to keep me down!

I get knocked down. I get up again!
You never going to keep me down!

I get knocked down. I get up again!
You never going to keep me down!

I get knocked down. I get up again!
You never going to keep me down!

I for one think it's truly great how you and other TeAm mates who live in much hotter climates than I contribute to the team effort, while I cop out and switch off my gear during the hot weeks of the year.* Also I think virtually everyone here dreams of being able to put more hardware or more electricity to the task, but life sets various limits to each of us.

--------
*) Lucky for me, current weather is perfect for running SETI + PrimeGrid combined.

Just woke up this morning and check TeAm stats. Holy cow! We already surpassed our 2016 record. In this rate, 2015 record will be broken as well. We are closing our gap with Francophone, 9th place is within sight for now.

Well, actually because I live in southern hemisphere and in combination with 3 months of drought, temperature and humidity is more bearable. This morning, it shows 28 C with 70% humidity. It will steadily rise to its peak when rainy season hit us hard in December (based on 2016 experience, I got 30 C with 85% humidity in the morning). But, as long as I able to contribute my effort to TeAm, I will keep crunching.

I think it's just because we gotten used to the heat that our machines produce during the hotter days. I for one just run my CPUs during the summer months.
::fans self:: 45C average in summer at ~70% humidity

I remember that appeared on my local news. There's more and more hotspot each year. If a PSU's designed for 40 C ambient temp, by operating it on 45 C temp, I believe it will shorten its lifespan considerably.

During yesterday's weekly SETI@Home downtime, or shortly after it, we passed the French Speakers. Today we are gaining 0.1 M points every 5 hours or so on the Italians.

--------
My watercooled GPUs are thermally throttling since last night. Either it has become time to open up and clean the waterblocks, or my current order of waterblocks and radiators in the loop is not proper for the presently combined load of PrimeGrid on CPU and SETI@Home on GPU. This makes me wonder whether watercooling will remain an element in my future DC ventures. Alas I don't have a room for noisy equipment.

Here is a jpg of the noise that my switch emits:

(I pulled the cable of the fan. It's not needed with such a little number of blinkenlights.)

For you that might be good to pull the fan. For me I plan to connect up my bedroom data center to it. Which at this time consists of 24 1U Dell power edge 1950 Gen IIIs

I optimistically believe we'll beat the Italians before this weekend and hopefully reach the kwsn guys.
