18578 difference, according to Coolkid's handy excel chart. I think a couple of those are mine

After looking over some numbers, I really think we should merge with BBR. that would give us 2nd place right away, and put us within less than 400k of ARS.

I'm hardly in a position to state my opinion, but I think a merger - especially a large scale one, like with BBR - would really serve no purpose. I guess I always thought that the point of distributed computing was the team spirit - the interteam rivalry, the races, the whatnot. Finishing in first place because the members of your team worked so hard to get there is one thing, and a noble goal, but finishing in first place because some smaller teams joined together simply to dislodge another one does seem "underhanded" to me, as I've seen it mentioned here. Would it really be the same finishing in a high position as 'Team BBR Starfire Anandtech Combined Team'? Where's the fun? I'd rather finish as TeAm Anandtech in 50th place.

Everybody's a stats addict, even if nobody admits it, but isn't that taking it too far? Let's just enjoy this final race to the finish line with BBR

We had a thread discussing it, and I don't think it would happen, nice as the results would be!

Both teams have so much pride in their own accomplishments, a lot of members were very sour on the idea.

Wouldn't it also be doing exactly as Ars is now, fighting for ranking moreso than the project? I think it's cool for us to race it out, knowing that we do it because we want to and believe in the project. Not that the rankings don't matter, just that we know what we both did was for us and by us without any underhanded tactics to gain ranks.

If we get past you then good for us, if you hold us off then cool too! Either way the project wins because we were dedicated.

Anyway, thats just my $0.02....

Thank you both!! I really try not to walk into a new forum and open up as a new member by posting garbage and jibberish.

Besides, I'm a (just over) 4 year cruncher. When I was brought to BBR last November, I had 141 WU's through the screensaver. I now have almost 3500 and host one of our team queues. I feel very dedicated to BBR for all the help they gave me, as many of your members must surely feel!

Our friendly rivalry is healthy for both of our teams, as your new member threads have indicated, let alone the project! I'm perfectly content to race this one out until the official end of seti1/start of BOINC.

Besides, I found a new forum to post in!!

Yeah, i started running SETI on an Athlon 1.2 back in June 2002, using the screensaver client at about 8hrs per wu
)
I sorta forgot about it after we sold that PC, having about 90 wu's at that stage.
Then i found TeAm AnandTech
I joined up here in March this year, and installed on one pc at first (a p2 350) with the CLI client, then installed on the rest on my PC's.
Now i have about 6 PC's crunching for me, and just recently hit 2500 WU's, one of my personal misestones
I am also a Mentor for new members

Now I'm addicted, and finding myself always needing more PC's to crunch for me!

My original box was a PII 266 - screensaver was taking upwards of 100 hrs per!!

CLI dropped it down to around 18 hrs per. Now my main box now is an AMD XP 2000+ overclocked to 1.83. I also have an AMD 1600 oc'd to 1.53, a PIV 3.4, and a celeron 600 all crunching.

The old PII sits in a corner, canabalized!! (It was a Packard Bell though, I felt it deserved it!)

Congrats on the 2500!! Nice dedication to the project!

I tell you all what, if I wasn't BBR, I'd be TeAm, just as friendly and as helpful as I feel we are.

Special Report Updated

Results are muddied because of that lost 51,260 WUs

We can adjust our production by accounting for the lost WUs and see a truer picture.

The adjusted 7d Average would be 12,352 putting us at 6th rank.

The adjusted 30d Average would be 10,898 putting us at 7th rank.

The adjusted predicted "Catch Date by BBR" would be "Never".

BBR is in the middle of a MTR and their results are going to vary a lot during the next three weeks.

Do not let this projection soften our resolve. We need MORE MORE MORE.

Keep recruiting, keep assimilating, keep your computers running. The battle is still before us!

No TA/BBR merger for me either. Wouldn't happen anyway as there's little interest on either team.

Its nice to hear from one of BBR's members, welcome BBRskeebercat and I agree completely with what you have said, no merger for me, a little rivalry never hurt anyone.
Onto other matters it has been so nice to see all the new members joining up to help us im going to see if i can add another machine to my fleet...of 2 at the moment. I am sure we will pull this off because this TeAm is DEDICATED.....Lets go guys...crunch on

Well, I had my PIII 800MHz laptop all cleaned up and ready to be put up for sale.

So, last night I installed SETI and got it working on my LAN again.

Smoke #08 back in action!

As soon as i'm done digesting a bit i'm gonna have my Athlon 1800 running. That should help ensure that my bedroom stays nice and toasty this holiday season.

Either get some Itaniums, or do what I did...

Athlon 2400
Athlon 2000
Athlon 1800 (now online)
700 Celeron
500 Celeron (Not a cruncher, just my network router/firewall)

Toss in two 17inch CRT's, some crappy ~25 inch TV, and a 300 watt halogen lamp, and you have a nice warm bedroom.

Still working on scrounging up enough parts to get the 800 Duron box online.

Edit: Looks like BBR is starting to VERY slowly close the gap again. In the last few hours i've seen the spreadsheet different amount drop by a couple hundred. =(
