Is it just me or are none of the WUs sending to Berkeley?


Also: I don't fully understand queues, what good are they?

There are some bottlenecks somewhere that have been in place for a few days.

SetiQueue would allow you to cache a week or two of WUs and hold the results for sending to Berkeley when it can get a connection. Frees you from having to babysit your PC to get WUs up/down. And, since I have a home network of 10+ PCs, going to each one manually quickly became a HUGE PITA! SetiQueue to the rescue!

Berkeley has been having some bandwidth problems over the past 6 months and it seems to have gotten bad again this past week. Thus, WU uploading and downloading has been slow.

As conjur said, Setiqueue allows you to create your own WU server for your farm so that your machines won't go dry when the network connections get bad. The "public" queues are for people who only have a few machines and/or who can't setup their own queue, but need to still get WUs from somewhere to continue to crunch whenever they can't connect to SETI. Thus they can connect to a public queue to feed their machine(s) and get a few stats too.

This is definitely the wrong time of day to try to connect to Berkeley!

If you can time shift to ~3am - 6am PDT, then it might be a little better. This is what we use the queues for since Setidriver doesn't let you set a specific transmit time and the linux clients really don't have much of a choice for similar queueing solutions other than maybe JSetidoor.

How do you tell SETI Driver to use a queue?

Use the proxy server radio button and point it to the IP address and port # of the Seti Queue.

You need to install SetiQueue and run it. Then point your Seti Driver to it. There are plenty of us here who will help you. Do you have more than one PC? If so the Queue will be a big advantage.

I would not use OrangeKids Queue right now if you are going to use a public queue. It's a little backed up right now also.

So it doesn't actually have to be on one of my home computers, if I could get it set up on some server somewhere and let others use it, right?
