just got my new setup running today... on the new
client, took a little less than 10 hours to do the
unit, running the 3.03 GUI client.... this sound right?
i figured it'd be a little faster than that.

are you drawing graphics or running lots of programs? i'm still not caught up on how fast the 3.03 is on the platforms, but i'm thinking about half that is right, if 3.03 does 50% more work than 3.

Using 3.03 cli, I get a 6.5 hr average with a tbird 1.1g on an abit kt7-raid.

Not running hardly a thing... doing some
web browsing, mp3s. Haven't even installed
games yet. Is the GUI client just that much
slower than the Command Line? Maybe i just
haven't sampled enough units yet.

That'll do it...

The GUI backs out of the way more so than the CLI I think, if you're doing anything in the foreground... That's why I don't even try to optimize my times on my the notebook I use to surf, post, etc. (even though it's running a text client).

I found with the older GUI clients that surfing or playing mp3's only had a minimal effect on WU times.

Zero effect
Have you set the screensaver to blank screen? or if 'running always' do you leave the window minimised? ,if not that could double your WU times.

BTW what is your SETI name?
