SETI: Some bad news for the TeAm

The average wu time is about 7 hrs, that's 3.43 wu's/day/computer. 11.5k/3.43 => ~3350 computers.

I will add some PC's to my assimilated fleet at work this week. When we (Team AT) had the race with DSL I was able to assimilate PC's at work. I can do it again. Unfortunately most are running win98. Is there a way a can (using just the CLI) get extra WUs to crunch without using SetiDriver? I would like to get say 10 WUs for each assimilated PC and have the CLI running. I can upload once per week and dl new WUs every Monday.

I currently an running the CLI on 5 PC's here at home;
1 Athlon XP2100+ 24/7
2 PIII800's 24/7
1 Celery 1.0 24/7
1 PIII550 24/7

at work I run;

1 PIII1.13 24/5
1 PII350 24/5

compudog, you may wish to take a look at SetiHide. It will allow you to cache WUs on one "main" machine if you wish, and just have one that will need uploading to the net. Also, this will allow the client to run all the time, and run hidden from users

Ministry of Serendipity also has at least another dozen or so accounts with OcUK which are producing another 3,000 or so units per day and rising. So you're looking at somewhere between 14,500 and 15,000 per day.

Yep, my Workstation at work is what I'm on right now, and it sits on a T1, while my other PC is at home.

Man, we had a big thread about how to run a sneakernet and I haven't been able to find it. It was a really good thread and it covered all the different ways you could move completed WUs from a non-internet capable machine to a one that had access to the internet. Have the WUs uploaded to Berkeley and download new WUs and then move those WUs back to the non-internet machine for crunching.

I had my department run some CAT 5 today at work. I have a four port hub and 4 PC's ready to hook up. I just have to punch down tomorrow and fire them up. Not much more production (3 PII-350/128MB/Win98 and 1 Celly 1.0/128/Win98) but that will be their only purpose, crunching Seti.
