The topic says it all. I have nview installed and I have it set to have 2 separate desktops. The problem is, all I can get the monitors to do is either be clones of each other or to have 1 spread onto the other. If anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

I dont think it is possible. I wasnt able to find anything about it after researching a little and playing around with it. You can set up monitor 1 to work as normal (have all of your icons and your full desktop) and monitor 2 to just show a blank screen which you can send any window to. This is the option I chose. To do it just use the dual monitor feature included in windows. Select monitor 2 in display properties settings and click extend my windows desktop onto this monitor.

Thanks for the info BG4533. Does anyone else have any ideas? I'm hoping this isn't the case.

ive already tried this a long time ago. you can not make 2 desktops with just a dual output video card, only an extention or clone.

If thats the case nView just became 2x more worthless for me. You'd think this would be a nice feature that a lot of people would use. I'm still hoping theres something I can do to make this work.

you can set windows to open to their own default monitor...like you can make word always open on monitor 2 and IE always open on monitor 1...but you cant have 2 start bars, only 1 or an extended one. i have messed around with it and gotten the start bar to stretch across both screens, even though that is pointless. it is fun to mess around with and it is good for your own multitasking, but you can not have 2 seperate desktops. what would be the point?

Wow, is it that hard to configure? First of all, enable nview. Restart. That is important. Then on the next boot, it will hold your hand throught the process.

Anyways, I have 1 LCD and 1 CTR and they both work fine. If you want the backdrop to be different on both monitors, you can't do that. What you can do is have both displays display different stuff. Say, one shows an Excell spreadsheet, one shows Netscape or IE.

Anyways, check out UltraMon. It's awsome. it allows you to have two different taskbars and have each display their own programs from their own screens.

I did that, it didn't do what I wanted it to do. Are you saying that what I described in my topic is possible?

I've got a prob with nView and win89SE:

I can't seem to change the refresh rate of my secondary monitor whatever I try. Windows lists the available modes but whatever option I choose the monitor is always stuck at 60 Hz
Is this another "feature" lacking in w98 drivers or is there some way to change this? 60Hz really is painful to watch..
