No. It is a fair ball.

Baseball parks have their own ground rules to specify what should happen during quirky baseball occurances (since all baseball parks differ). However, no baseball park has a rule that if a ball hits the wall and is then caught, it is an out.

However, I believe that if a ball hits the ceiling or the wires holding up the Metrodome, then it is still a live ball and it can be caught for an out.

Sorry, this happens all the time in Fenway Park off the Green Monster. It's not an out.

You're an idiot. It's most definitely NOT an out. Hitting a players head and hitting the wall are completely different things.

Duh, idiot, you didn't READ and UNDERSTAND my entire post before you opened your trap and stuck your big, smelly feet in it.

I said AFTER the ball leaves the bat. NOT if the pitcher beans the guy. The OP stated:

Obviously saying that the ball has indeed been HIT by the batter already.

In which case, I'm RIGHT; it's an out.

Now, don't you feel like a jackass? HEEHAWW!!!!

You got served, idiot.

GagHalfrunt said "hitting a players head" meaning the ball, after being hit by the batter, hits a fielder on the head (think of the Jose Conseco play where the ball hit his head while he was playing outfield and bounced out into the stands for a home run). He did not say "hitting a players head" in the context of a pitcher beaning a batter.

Which is BULLLLSHIT, really. Rules are rules. Rules aren't supposed to "vary depending on where you're playing." That's like saying "If both teams are wearing blue uniforms, FOUR strikes now makes an out."

Yet another reason why baseball sucks.

Please point out the ballpark in that link that says if the ball hits the outfield wall and the fielder catches it, it's an out.

No. It isn't an out.

If the ball is caught after bouncing off another player I believe it's an ?OUT?. Am I right?

Yeah, you wonder how baseball ever became America's pasttime.

I know the answer to the OP's question and I wasn't even born here!

It could hit off a another person's glove and still catch it for an out. Anything that hits a wall is considered dead or a hit. If it hits the foul line poles thats considered a home run.

Any Red Sox fans know that it is not an out.

Which of course reminds me that they have a 12 game winning streak going

By the way, I have a feeling this thread will come back sometime in the future.

Back in the Kingdome's day, they had speakers dangling down. I saw a couple of wild plays there, sometimes it would get caught for the out, other times the deflection would fool everyone and it would drop fair.
