Saw this on the local news tonight. I heard them say the headline and was in shock.

This quote disturbed me:

Who cares, they are still people, still human beings. Yea it sucks that the hospital has to recoup the cost and possibly taxpayer dollars but it happens all the time. like i said Drug ODs dont bother me anymore, it's their choice we have no say in what they want to do to their lives. And no matter what the hospital has an obligation to treat them just like anyone else.

More than you know. It would surprise you if you really knew who all the users were. Some are probably your neighbors...they just appear successful and normal, hiding it well, and financially able to support their habit well enough. I found out about someone I knew, and it blew me away. I'd have never in a thousand years thought it.

People are gonna do drugs, the best thing for the police to do sometimes is reduce the risk of bad stuff happening as much as possible, like places passing out free needles so people don't share/use dirty needles.
Sure, you're not stopping the drug taking, but you're reducing the impact on hospitals by making sure it's done as cleanly as possible.

Wow, there are some very very uneducated peopl ein this thread. In some ways I'm sorry to see it, but I see myself saying the same things in the past. Slew Foot, Shawn, Minendo.... You guys have no idea.

There are many low-life addicts, no question about it. But there are others.... Your friends, neighbors, co-workers. There are a LOT of poeple out there with a problem and they hide it very well and support the habit in a way that you would never know.

I have a friend, I grew up with this guy, the one person that I'd call on for anything. I found out several years back after an OD incident JUST LIKE THIS ONE, that he had a problem. He has since gotten treatment and is recovering, but it was a total shock. My 1st thought was definitely not "let the junkies die!" It was oh ******, can we get him through this?

The point is, e-penis aside, this isn't funny and it is not 'good' These could be good people that mad a bad choice years ago. Get off your high and mighty suburban WASP viewpoint and see the real world around you.
