Congrats to James Burt (aka Beyond, of TeamBeOS) to submitting the block with the 2nd prime

The number 65567*2^1013803+1 is indeed a prime, you can find the decimal expansion here. This prime is over 45% longer than the prime we discovered only six days ago. 305,190 digits in all, making it the 21st largest known prime!

We now have 15 primes still to find!

For those interested in Seventeen Or Bust, please visit the homepage, and download the client After installing, enter the username of your choice, and enter Anandtech as the Team name (case sensitive)

Actually, no. Prime95 has found the 5th biggest known prime, over 4 million digits, SOB's is only 305,190 digits.

However, there is discussion in the SB forum that we might increase the scope of the project once we have finished the initial outlay of finding the 17 remaining small Serinipski Primes.

I also feel that this is just luck that we've found 2 within a week of each other, as the project has been going for ~200 days, and these are the first results we have had.

Even if we do succeed in finding the remaining 15 Primes quickly, we can be sure that the project will keep going, as we have already proved twice that the model and the backbone of the project works

SOB maybe found 3rd prime. If you watch carefully their main stats page you see that in k=44131 there hasn't been recent n updates and it is about 23000 n's behind others. Is it just coincidence or is SOB team checking if they found third prime.

SB doesn't play nice with my XP Pro machine so I took it off. But my P166 and Athlon900 are still crunching!
