In some movie, the sex scene just seem to be thrown in for the heck of having a sex scene. Why? (one movie I remember is "Monster Ball") It just don't go with the storyline.

And when is sex scene become too much? In some movies, they goes as far as showing a rape scene.

not enough sex scenes and too much ultra violence...

whether you like it or not, sex is part of our culture and it is probably the most thought about THING in the entire world, among all cultures. so why do you cry when you see it in movies? you know you think about it probably 10000x times more than you have seen it in a movie.

Ugh...the cave rave just before that, combined with the sex scene, made for the worst 10 min of film I've viewed in the last 10 years.

Yes, some sex scenes in movies are gratuitous, but there are also gratuitous actions scenes. Depends on the film and the film maker.

The tired thing about "oh god, why won't someone think about the children!" is a little foolish. If you don't want your kids to see it, don't let them watch it. And the idea that people seem A-OK with their kids watching violence but show a breast or a nipple and all hell breaks loose is just foolish.

Lastly...please, for the love of god, add some "s"s into your writing. It's painful to read.

Saw that the other day... it was put in there because she and Ethan Hawke had to show they had a trusting relationship going... before what happened at the end of the film. Before the sex scene, there was just a lot of tension between them but nothing happened.

Was quite needed in more ways than one.

I assume you are speaking of mainstream movies...

Usually, it is fake...there are exceptions however...for instance, the Japanese film: In the Realm of the Senses had unsimulated sex in it...

The Brown Bunny with Chloe Sevigny...is really giving the actor/director a bj.

and the controversial/soon to come out movie: Nine Songs has graphic unsimulated sex...but is still in talks with the British Board of Film Classification as to whether it can be released..and with what rating...

As I stated, I watch movies for the storyline, the interesting plot. Porno movies are made for sex. It seem that hollywood is drain of original ideas, they now just remake it and put some SEX in there to make money off of guy(s) like U.

I know sex create the next generation. But does it have to be in every stinkin movies?

And making you suffer belong(s) in drama so I'm all for it.. now suffer Hubris.

Had a professor in college that had a phrase for it : OFS (Obligatory Fvck Scene)
Most movies will use it for the appeal. Look at the trailers for most actions movies, you see a whole bunch of actions scenes, then a female posing seductively, more actions scenes, then the 'hero' kissing the seductive female, then a few last action scenes.

A great deal of Hollywood is completely predictable. Remember, most movies are targeted at the lowest common denominator.

There's also the trend that a new actress looking to make a name for herself will appear topless or nude in either her first or second movie. That gets her the attention she wants to make it into other films and get her name out. Many famous actresses that most guys think have never appeared nude actually have a nude scene way back in their early career, usually in a relatively unknown movie. Jamie Lee Curtis and Demi Moore are two good examples.
