SF 3rd Strike Online

Released today, well yesterday on PSN and today on Xbox Live. Supposed to be arcade perfect. Hearing there is a 2 frame input lag on online on the PS3 but not on Xbox360, but only have one so I can't confirm.

Anyone getting it and want to play some? Note: I haven't played 3S in years and am, most likely, terrible.

I want to buy this but then it'll be like every other fighting game I buy. I won't have time to practice or play. Probably buy it anyway...

ive never played 3s seriously or competitively, but if the online in this game is as good as they say it is, i'm going to try and learn it.

i'm waiting a week or so before i purchase it to hear the feedback on the online system. after mvc3, i have 0 trust in capcom and online promises they make.

ps3 version has 2 frame input lag in SINGLEPLAYER as well as multiplayer, hopefully they'll find a way to get around that =/

Downloaded the trial and played it a little bit.

The sprites look amazing and the inputs are so strict. =( And the parry challenges are hard! Well, except the Evo Moment #37 one Desk did with one hand.

can I get some feedback about the online play from those of you who got it on 360? is it better than AE online or is it the same? just general opinions i guess.

i picked up a 1600 card today from TRU for $15 to get it, but I want to hear how online is before i decide.

I always liked CVS2 better, but I'll probably pick this up on PSN whenever it goes on sale.

Got it for PS3 and, well, it's 3S. You either love it or hate it, and I love it.

Not really sure if there is input delay, but it seems fine to me.

Advice: only play against Green or Yellow pings. Otherwise GGPO gets too choppy. As long as its a good connection, this is the best system for fighting games as it is input delay free (if you set it to 0).

They messed up the health bars and EX meters for some reason, which is puzzling.

The online with GGPO is amazing. I haven't played any red bar people yet, but everyone with green bar is just smooth as silk. Some of the trials are pretty hard.

so it's at least as good as AE, or would you say it's even better than that?

the game is faster than AE for sure so I'd hope if possible it feels better. i've never used GGPO before on PC but i've heard it is great. i didn't buy it last night cause I was watching football and other shows, but I may pick it up this weekend.

I would say so far it feels a lot better than AE. I haven't put in as many games, but I haven't had any problems so far. GGPO on PC allowed me to play against people in Japan, so this should be perfect for US based stuff. It works using save states and roll backs so even laggy connections run a lot more smooth than they normally would.

Oh and the inputs are super strict. There is a video floating around of Fubarduck (runs Arcade Infinity I believe) comparing his version to his 3S arcade machine. Haven't watch it, but it might show just how close it is.

if you are saying they are strict compared to AE, then yea definitely. AE is way too lenient, to the point that it hinders me quite a bit doing certain moves. i prefer the stricter inputs to the lenient inputs of AE.

but if you mean it's even stricter than the arcade version, then damn i'll have to check it out.

the thing i like about 3s is that it's already established as a great game, and that i really know nothing about it. it will be fun trying to learn it and get better at it. kind of like when i started to see my skills progress in sf4 to the point that i could actually play competitively.

i most likely will grab it this weekend. smackababy if you want to try and run some games let me know, i will be around pretty much all weekend because of the damn hurricane lol. but like i said, i'm going to be a total noob to this game. i've literally played 3s less than 50 matches probably ever. i had SF:AC on xbox, but i only played sf2, not sf3.

god damn capcom really fucked up the interface. why can't they get that shit right after all this experience? the lag is awesome online, but the interface is whack. i hate how it doesn't save any preferences or anything, so i have to change from "any" to "standard" EVERYTIME I search.

also, the youtube uploading on XBL is awful. it uploads to some sf3 channel, you cant put it into your account. here is one of my matches i just upped to test it out.

i mean it's cool you can do it, but wish i could put login info to get it into my own channel. i hear on ps3 you can do that though.

There is supposed to be a patch to fix the youtube crap. But yeah, the interface is whack. At least we can button check on character select. Too bad it always has a timer...

Nah, I was just sick in bed all weekend and have been pretty busy at work this week. =( I will never give up on 3S as well! I love this game.

the things i'm having the most trouble with right now are how strict the inputs are for super art combos, and the reversal timing window. those 2 things seem to be really screwing me up. i'm also noticing that the inputs for a simple overhead (mk + mp) is super strict as well. the leniancy of sf4 has really screwed me up in that sense. but i think with time, i will get it down.

also i have no clue about matchups at this point, that is where i need to learn the most probably. the majority of the cast i've never faced in another sf game.

Chun, Ken, and Yun have favorable matchups against most, if not all, of the cast. Sean is the "worst" character in the game. I don't know specifics, but the tier list has been around for awhile since the game is so old. Maybe some new technology will come about, but only time will tell.

I play Akuma and Ken mostly but will switch to Elena to goof around.

i've been using Ken so far sine I used him in SF2 the most. i feel like i have a pretty decent grasp on some basics of this game, but just need to get the timing down.
