Japan has something like 30-40X the population of Israel. On the other hand, if you look at per-capita GDP, Israel is only a few percent behind.

1) its actaully 1/20th

Japan is not questioned night and day about its right to exist. Japan has around 130 million people, Israel has around 6 million. Japan was set up by the United States, keep in mind. Japan owns a lot of countries if you go by economic figures. It "owned" China before this decade. It "owns" many European countries.

Timing here Mike... Correct me if you feel I am wrong. My understanding is that they were selling arms to Iraq recently, while purporting to be a U.S. ally. Years ago France also sold them a nuclear reactor which was destroyed by Israel.

Bottom line is that France doesn't care for the U.S. They are not a trustworthy ally at all.

Some of the other ones also look shady to me, but I simply have no direct knowledge, especially on the technological achievements ones.

I still want to make clear that despite of this, I think the french ambassador is an assh*le. He would have been the same if he was talking about any other country in the world. But what's the point of this "my Dad is stronger than yours" debate? Should we point out what Italy has accomplished during the Renaissance? Or France during Illuminism? Greece in the ancient age? Progress comes from PEOPLE, no matter where they are born. I never judge people based on how much I like their countries' government, or how important their country was in history. Let us all get over this...
