Well lets just hope that its a feature both ATI and Nvidia introduce at the same time.

I got soooooo tired of reading all those threads last year about whether SM3 was a good thing or not, or whether the geforce 6xxx cards were better because of it.

I don't feel sorry for chosing a SM3.0 card?
Only fools thing that hardware will be futureproff.

But I do enjoy the incresed framrates in FarCry on SM3.0.
I do enjoy the water in Pacific fighters on SM3.0
I do enjoy the sm3.0 in Splinter Cell Choas theory.
And I do enjoy the extra feature my card have besides SM.30

Terra - Besides SM3.0 is more futureproof than SM2.0b...if you want to look at it that way

Anyone who bought a SM 3.0 card for it, will probably buy a SM 4.0 card for it. If they feel they got value from it, cool. It they waved it around like some giant e-penis, I guess it is alright to giggle. BUT, they still have a faster card than the one I use.

This just means that when this comes out, your card will be way behind instead of just a little.

I don't think that anyone ever said (or implied) that progress would stop, or that they were "safe" with sm3.0. The only argument I heard was that it was better to have sm3.0 capabilities than to not have them. Did you really think Microsoft wasn't going to upgrade DirectX again?

New technologies and releases don't MAKE your product obsolete unless you see it as such. You don't NEED a 7800GT SLI system, you don't NEED SM4.0. Just because something new comes out doesn't make your current product any lesser. Now there's just something better.

Why do people always act like their product is now much lower than it was before? Anything it could do in the past it can do now and in the future...

And people are not "morons" for upgrading, it's their hard earned money and they will spend it where they see fit. You can't make that call for them, or judge it. Not everyone thinks they are future proofing either.

You make it sound as if the industry shouldn't be changing and making new things all the time... Again, you seem to be under the impression that new products somehow change the older products...
