It was time for Shanahan to go. But definitely his overall stay at Denver was a success. They need a lot of new life there on the coaching staff, and some big signings/draft picks.

Should not have been fired, IMO. The D was TERRIBLE, but the offensive wasn't 1/2 bad. Cutler, Marshall, Royal, will be together for a long, long time.

Actually I'm not too suprised. Heck I was telling a friend that if I were Pat Bowlen, I'd let Shanahan go, especially after this year's meltdown. Hope we can find a decent replacement, but need some D as well, as we've seen Champ can't do it all.

as a denver resident shanahan should have been gone 2 years ago. he just doesnt have the drive anymore. Once his golden ticket Elway retired it has been all down hill.

As a Denver resident I'm pretty shocked by the news, but also glad that something is going to change. At the very least, they needed to allow someone else to make personel decisions and just let Shanny coach. He is still a great coach, but they had far too many bad draft picks on defense. Shanny wore too many hats and it caught up with him.

I thought there would be some changes, due to their monumental season collapse, but I thought they would just get a general manager, and force Shanahan to be a coach again.

I hope to God that we get Bill Cowher...

He was 2 games under .500, I think (23 - 25).

I don't think he was particularly a good coach, but the Jets were 1 game away from the playoffs.

Answer to your other ?, no - Mike Shanahan getting fired is just crazy but it was getting spread around here like wildfire. Denver is a serious sports town, and within moments of the news getting announced, people were calling me, texting me and all my co-workers were over and around discussing it.

I did some more research and this was never rumored. I am not sure that the Avs have the Cap space to sign Brendan, and the only teams I can see in the news as rumored to sign him are all in the East, Rangers and Devils mostly.

So not sure why you would of thought this, especially since it would of said something like "Shanahan IN Denver" Not "Out"
