Shaq for Marion trade revisited

The suns can't stop the spurs on the defensive end especially against their guards, and marion wouldn't have helped them there. The spurs have played each game (since the 2nd half of game 1) like they are down 3-0 and would be kicking the suns @ss even if the trade never happened imo.

Actually there is several ways to look at the trade. One it should sink by now that the Spurs are better and have been better and it doesn't matter whether its Shaq or Marion the result is the same. Two once again we see that Nash is not a half court point guard. Its the same now as it was when he was with Dallas, the guy puts up numbers in wide open run and gun style, but when asked to settle down and run a half court set, the team is unsuccessful with him. Its hard to judge the Suns really, because they are losing to a team that by most accounts are a dynasty in its prime. The Suns are not losing to scrubs, but to one of the best teams ever. Hard to really blame anyone when losing to the Spurs.

Uh... I think Utah has a huge opportunity to win the West, and the Hornets also are another strong candidate.

Well he does have some sweet assists and shoots the ball well. On defence it often times looks like he doesn't even try to stay in front of his guy and instead relies on his help.

No doubt the Suns would probably lose to the Spurs with Marion or Shaq, but at least Marion didn't have an albatross of a contract and now your looking at the very real possibility of being swept by the Spurs which hasn't happened in previous years. So if anything they have taken a step back this year, one by being swept by the Spurs or losing in 5 (assuming that it happens of course) and two by losing all those games after the Shaq trade, while trying to integrate him, which cost them in the standings so they won't even make it to round 2.

It is startling how little of a post up game Amare has, but at least he has developed that midrange jumper from the free throw line so they can pick and pop.
