What, he did it all by himself? The Lakers wouldn't know what they are doing if it wasn't for Phil Jackson and his buddies. Besides being dedicated, he's also one of the most ego-centric players around.

He is nothing but big. There is nobody anywhere near his size/build. If he was 6'7&quot; with the exact same talent level, he wouldn't even start for a high school team.

Wrong. I do it to my friends all the time. They pass me the ball near the basket, and I simply back them up until I feel like shooting. Remember, Shaq does this to other centers, not other guards and fowards...the little guys would pick his pocket, or he'd shoot over them(if he could actually shoot).

It isn't just Shaq's SIZE, it's his BUILD. Yes, there are plenty of fat 300 lb guys around,(very few that are 7'1&quot; though), but NOBODY in the NBA is Shaq's overall size AND build. No, you couldn't bulk Garnett or Robinson up and have them hang with Shaq because they're not built that way, their frames wouldn't support that weight.
On the other hand, if you took someone else with Shaq's build and gave them Garnett's or Robinson's talent and skills, you'd have the best player in the history of the sport, someone who'd average 50pts a game easily.
Kind of like Wilt Chamberlain, but a bit bigger.

shaq's advantage is his size. imo, he has other skills too. but the point is, you must use what you have to your advantage.

He does get away with a little more elbowing than other average sized guys, but is that &quot;fair?&quot; I can understand the all star getting a call in their favor if the play is debateable, but just from watching the finals, it's obvious he gets away with much, much more than he should.

You people cannot possibly say that Shaq has no skill. Sure size makes a difference...for example, I was a great offensive lineman in high school, and my pass blocking technique is great, but I'm 5'10&quot; and Willie Roaf is 6'6&quot;+...thats part of what makes them professional athletes. Shaq's build seems to be disadvantage. Since no one else can compete with him, the officials have to make calls to even it out. Yet Shaq still dominates. There are lots of 7 footers in the NBA. There is the best defensive player in the league, who is 7'2&quot;. Shaq owned him. His agility, his awareness, his passing... he is simply the most dominant player in basketball.

if you look at the way he plays, and studies his skills, he is still a good player.

what makes him dangerous is his penetration which can't be done if he was not as big as he is.

he has some perimeter skilz and quickness.

shaq has some basic moves, nice agility, and decent/good footwork, and that combined with his size and desire make him unstoppable. he does have some talent.

there were guys as big as him in the NBA...

stanley roberts (formerly of clippers, some other teams) was 7 feet and over 300 pounds...i wonder where that guy is now? now THERE'S a giant with no talent whatsoever.
