What's the best way to do this? At my office I have a Windows 7 machine (not part of the domain at work) that I work on all day. Sometimes I don't finish my work and I want to pick it up when I get home.

At home I have a Macbook (Snow Leopard), and I would like to be able to pick up where I left off, so I need to access my office PC's files remotely.

What's the best/easiest way to accomplish this? I know the network guy here so I can forward ports if necessary...

does your company not have any remote access VPN services? you should ask the network guy what approved, remote access methods are in place and use one that best fits your needs.

Heya,

USB HDD/Thumbdrive. That's the easiest way.

But if you want to do it via networking from home to work, I would see if you're allowed to have an FTP at work. If the machine is always on at work, you can have an FTP on it and make sure via your network friend will port forward the FTP requests to your machine's IP address. Then simply share the folder with your work files via that FTP. You can download at home and upload from home that way. FileZilla Server is easy and works great for Windows.

Very best,

A remote acces program like Logmein would probably be best. That way, you can work using the software tools you have at work, don't have to take files home, and don't have to worry about file synchronization.

If your PC at work has a business version of Windows, you could also use Windows Remote Desktop, using the RDP client for Macintosh at home. But that requires port forwarding on the office router.
