i love the frozen grapes - great way to cool down in south Texas..

also, we buy chocolate chex mix cereal to eat as a snack - it has choco chex mixed with regular chex.. tastes yummy.

i made some popcorn on the stove last night - tasted stale for some reason.. i wonder if that's because it was cheap store-brand?

For the kids, we never give them straight up juice - we always mix ~1:3 water to juice in a cup.

idk if this counts but i make fry sauce (2 parts mayo, 1 part ketchup) and add a glob of bbq sauce to it and dip like popcorn chick, etc in it

that sounds great...

for wing sauce i love Franks' red hot.. i put this on popcorn chicken while cooking it so it bakes in that spicy goodness... then I top with tony chachere's cajun seasoning (if i don't have any Tony's I opt for Red Robin seasoning)

Never tried it w/ the bbq sauce, but popcorn chicken with the mayo & ketchup is very tasty!

Pretzels dipped in salsa.

Mix up equal parts of candy corn and dry roasted salted peanuts, its a great combination of crunchy/chewy and sweet/salty.

Tasty Low-Calorie Ice Cream Sammy's
(on the cheap)

You will need:
1 Box Chocolate Graham Crackers (can use regular grahams or cinnamon if you prefer)
1 tub of Cool Whip

When you get the CW home from the store, it should be still somewhat frozen but soft enough to spoon out. Take 1 sheet of graham and snap it in half. This creates 2 - ~ 3" x 3" squares. Spoon around 2 tablespoons of CW onto 1 of the graham squares, then place the other square over the CW. Don't mush down the squares together or all the CW will squeeze out (duh!) Stack them in a plastic container with lid. Freeze 4-6 hours.

Each box of grahams + 1 tub of CW makes about 25-30 sandwiches. Grahams cost around $3.00 a box and CW can be found for $1 a tub during summer sales. Each sammy will be around 100 calories with about 1.5 g of fat.

My hubby is picky and even he loves these Enjoy!

In place of ice cream I like to use sherbert instead. And sometimes tastes even better than using ice cream. Depends on the mix though.

Spinach & Artichoke cream cheese on wheat thins/triscuits :awe:

Any cracker really. The best way to really eat it though is a piping hot french baguette. The first time I had it on that bread was at a local pub...and it's been the preferred way of eating it since.

Less of a snack, but if you have extra pizza dough laying around, fold in some marshmallows and chocolate and bake for a new spin on S'mores. I always save a little extra dough just for that.

I'll freeze just about any dessert that isn't either damaged by the freezing process or made too hard to chew through.

just about anything with icing is better frozen. also, peanut butter cups, M&M's, and chocolate covered pretzels. all significantly better frozen than at room temperature.

also, I frequently eat peanuts at work... I'll grab a bag from the vending machine, let it rest near the heat vents for my laptop, and then when I'm ready to eat them they're nice and toasty

Pretzels.
But not just any pretzels.
Square.

Dump 1 pound into big ziplock bag with 1/3 jug of corn popping oil.
Add 1 packet powdered ranch. And maybe some garlic powder. Add very little salt. Trust me. Even if you think you like salt its too easy to go overboard, especially with whats already in there.

Now AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART, you must leave the bag the fuck alone for 24 hours.
If you used just the right amount of oil, most all of it will be soaked up and the suckers will be dry.
You will now have shorty's awesome pretzels.
Enjoy.

Shortylickens Pretzels sound awesome. Do you just dump the stuff in the bag and leave it alone, or do you put it in there and shake it up first? I'ma try this sumbitch with some cajun powder or something.

Take a plate.
Cover it with 1 piece of paper towel.
Layer sliced pepperoni on the paper towel so it covers the plate.
Put another paper towel on top.
Microwave in the over for a while (like a minute or 2).

When done, the paper towels will have absorbed most of the grease (and will be very disgusting), and you'll be left with crunchy little pepperoni discs that are quite yummy.

The snacks in this thread are totally unhealthy, so I thought I would balance it out a bit.

* Celery sticks with organic natural peanut butter smeared in between the crevice.
* Apple wedges with hummus.
* Oatmeal with a handful of blueberries tossed in
* Protein powder, water, ice, blueberries, strawberries and a banana for the ultimate shake.

This is ridiculously simple, but my friends were going "euw!" at my guilty pleasure:

a) toast some sliced bread
b) no need for dairy spread of any kind i.e. butter or margarine
c) use spoon to drop blobs of your favourite yoghurt on top of bread - not a set yoghurt, but fluid, containing fruit and directly from the fridge - and allow a very short while for the toast to absorb some of the yoghurts moisture
d) consume and enjoy the warmth of the toast with the cool yoghurtiness for contrast

To those back then who looked dubiously at me when I explained this, I'd say "what, it's much better than a Poptart".

Oh yeah don't put yoghurt in the toaster, not a good idea, but I give you permission to use my idea for your own ends otherwise.
