procrastination was pretty much my organization stratergy as an undergrad. assignments that were to be done over 2-3 weeks got done the night before they were due. It would piss my friends off when I got better grades then them after they started ealy, harrassed proffesors during office hours and had peers proof read their work. After a while it got to the point where all my studying was done an hour before the test.

Did an entire computer science project in 24 hours. No sleep, got it in 1 min before deadline (online submission). That's thousands of lines of code programmed from scratch.

Got an A on the project. Everyone else did it in 3 weeks.

I am currently putting off a paper about the Russian revolution. It's too easy to watch Fight Club. What are some good tips for getting a paper done that is the last thing in the world I want to be doing?

The few times wher ei really couldnt get things started I went the library or the cafe and did work there..anywhere out of the house that is quite. Also if it is not a research paper just disconnect yourself from the internet

I'm procrastinating on writing a short story for my English class.

Every college course I've taken has asked for double spaced papers, they are easier to read and provide spaces for editing for the instructor. Teachers just double the length of the paper to make it more challenging. The length of the research paper for this class is only 10 pages, double spaced, I forget how many citations are required for it.

Well pretty much every exam and paper I procrastinate eaqually and as much as possible on

But, my most recent was a 15 page research paper I did on the history of submarines for my last English class. We were given 2 or 3 weeks to do it, I gathered my books, read them and got the info I needed, wrote the paper and everything in 3 days. I didnt even do work all day for those 3 days, I took breaks here and there. Got an A on the paper, lots of good facts, no BS.

However, now that I think of it, my absolute best was my senior year in HS. Our senior project was spread over about 3 months. We could choose any topic we wanted, mine was to rebuild a car from the ground up with the help of my dad. My dad has a mint condition 1937 Cadillac LaSalle sedan, and at the time had just bought a 1937 LaSalle coupe which was in pieces. Every now and then I took pictures of the pieces; frame, body panels, engine and various other parts and turned them in to show my progresss. The night before the project was due I spent 45 minutes on www.howstuffworks.com gathering info to use for my presentation. The next day I drove the mint sedan into the school parking lot and did my presentation. Turned it on, reved the engine a few times, let people sit in it and explained how various parts of the engine worked. Teacher told me he learned more from my presentation than anyones and gave me an A. This was a 3 month project which I spent, at most, 2 hours total on, absolute masterpiece.

I have a similar story to that. In my high school government class, we had a semester-long project. I don't remember the length requirement, but I do remember that I had to give a presentation and that it was on starting a funeral home (from scratch, getting the building permits and licenses and all that). I was supposed to get some copies of official documents from the state capital sent to me, but when I called that Friday afternoon, they were closed for the weekend. I had to write my paper and reference documents that I had never seen before. The class period before the paper was due, I talked to my Spanish professor who was the head of Student Council. She agreed to let me go to the library, make a long-distance call "for Student Council", and have the documents faxed to her. They arrived about 20 minutes before my presentation. The best part is that I was one of 3 students out of all of her government classes (probably 90 students) to receive 100%!

To update today's procrastination, I just got back from a 4-hour baseball game. I know that I shouldn't have gone, but I promised my b!tch that I would take her, and I didn't want to break her heart. It was the annual "bark in the park" day when they let you take your dogs to the baseball game. I took my beagle Gretchen.

Is there a pill that cures procratination? Is it a desease?

Also, I want an MBA and you people just made me crap myself with your 40 page papers. I have trouble with a 4 page paper.

I think it's hereditary. My siblings and I all inherited from my mother procrastination and the inability to be on time for anything.

40-page papers aren't the norm in my program. This is actually the first paper of that length that is 100% a research paper. I had a 30-page paper due in a previous class, but it was made up of article reviews, interviews with managers, and different sections like that. What stucks about this semester is that all three of my classes have semester-long projects. The other two were much easier than this one since they have a more-defined structure. One was a business plan for a potential start-up company, and the other was a direct-compensation project revolving around a fictitious company. I only took the compensation class, because it was the only class that fit my schedule.

It's the same way in my program for double-spaced papers. I actually had some single-spaced papers assigned for the first time this semester. I had 3 single-spaced, 8-page papers due three weeks in a row all in the same class. One of them I wrote from 1:30 to 4:45, then took a test, then finished writing from 5:45 until 6:25. It was due at 6:30. I got it done, but the low B I received wasn't what I was shooting for. Oh well...I'm being more lenient on myself this semester than usual because it's been so busy. I really hope that I get 2 As and a B (the B being in the class for which I'm writing the 40-page research paper).

I think I'd get more done if I separated myself from the internet (especially ATOT) right now! I've already gathered my research and saved it to pdf, so I don't even need the internet for the paper.
