Sharing a laser printer?

We acquired an old Lexmark laser printer from surplus. It is working fine as a local printer, but it has an ethernet port and I would like to share it with the other computers in the house, but I'm not really sure how. Furthermore, its documentation is not available on Lexmark's site. If I can avoid making one system a dedicated print server, I'd like to. I've got a wireless router for sharing the Internet connection, with 4 ethernet ports. 4 Computers total, one is using the wireless connection. I'd like for all of them to have access to the printer. I would appreciate any help I could get with this.

If you have the printer's network, related drivers, you can try to plug it with CAT5e to one of the Router's port and see if you can configure it.

You then need to install the Printer?s Network related drivers on all the computers so that they can access the printer through he network.

Google for the term "Lexmark model number Network? and see what?s coming up.

Thanks, but the Googling only brought up places where I can buy toner cartridges and RAM. I'll see if we've got the proper length of Cat5e to try what you suggested, thanks.

yeah hook it up via CAT5 to the router, then just set it up for TCP/IP printing, you can tell it to use DHCP or give it a static ip, then go to add printer, (be sure to have the drivers downloaded for it), then set it up as a local printer, but create a new port, and in the new port, type the IP you configured for the printer... should be all she wrote.

Really depends on the settings on printer, but use standard TCP/IP and enable LPR. (RAW perhaps)
Queue name should not be the matter in this case since your gateway is not a printer server.
